Awful! I lost money! Rick Boling changed his business name in July/2016 to RB Flooring and Insulation. I used BC Tile and Wood about three years ago when Boling had a great tile installer named Luciano. Luciano doesn't work for him any longer and that was who I wanted for my job.
Rick Boling doesn't manage his jobs , usually only shows up to get money or drop off some (not all) of the tile. His tile installer (Ron) is a major trainwreck. Every time I look at the tile he set, I see more bad work. Missing grout line spaces, random tile set vertically in a horizontal pattern, grout lines don't line up as they should, holes cut in the tile around valves that are too big to seal, permanent scratches on tile, using caulk (instead of grout) to hide missing grout joints or fill in large gaps. Trainwreck Ron was told to set a shower seat 18" off the floor but set it at 28", the height of a dinner table.
On the morning of 12/31/2015, it was discovered Ron had placed the wrong tile in the bathroom shower. The day before, Boling stopped by for a $2,000 dollar advance check. When I called Boling about the tile installation error, he blamed me because in his opinion, I should have been managing his job and seen the error. Boling hadn't delivered the correct shower tile from the tile warehouse or told Trainwreck Ron which tile to put in the shower before Ron started.
Boling walked the job with $2,000 dollars for work not done and done totally wrong.
Stephen Robinson/ tile installer came to bid repairing the damages. The first words out of his mouth when he saw the shower tile was something like, "Oh, jeez!". He pointed out missing grout joints, vertically laid tile instead of following a horizontal pattern, etc.. He kept pointing out tile installation errors I, or most other people, would not have recognized. You can read Yelp reviews for Stephen, and it's all true. His review lists him as closed, but that's because he has so much work from referrals.
I put a similar review on Thumbtack.com. Boling contacted them and said he'd never worked for me to try to kill the review, but I sent them documents showing that was a lie and they re-instated my review. Boling must've closed his Thumbtack account because his business listing disappeared. I found a negative review on Google from 5 years ago. Boling responded he'd never worked for them, and then, an A++++ review suddenly appeared. The same thing happened on Yelp. My negative review, suddenly a new review effusively praising BC Tile; Ron is great, many compliments, A++...
Through this experience, I've learned how easy it can be for ANYONE to write a review on the free websites Boling uses to advertise. Comparing Boling's five star reviews, I saw a repeated pattern of misspellings, composition, and grammatical errors that would indicate they were most likely written by the same person.
Bad tile installation, doesn't manage subs or materials, blames you, then walks the job with your money.
