I brought my car to Region Motors after being lured in by cool cars posted on Facebook. Without doing any research on the company or "Walt", I brought my car to him for a motor and transmission swap. Walt provided an estimate and had no time limit. He called a few times and reported issues with the car that I was aware of so I'm at ease thinking my car is in good hands. Then I get the call that my car is done and that's where the fun began. I get there and there's overspray all over the front of my freshly painted car so they had to get that off. I drove the car a few miles before reaching home. The belts had twisted and frayed because they were not lined up, about a belt width off.

They picked up the car and moved the alternator around. Now my freshly painted motor looks like garbage and the brackets look like they came out of a parts bin. Walt will tell you about all the "man hours" he puts in "fabricating brackets" but in actuality it's because Walt won't buy the correct brackets and tells the mechanic to "use and bend the old brackets" from my old motor which are not the same. I get the car back and have to wash it because it was covered in bird droppings. Drive the car less than 10 miles . It won't start and it's leaking transmission fluid.

They come get it a second time. I go to pick it up after it's" finished" again, and it's missing a heater core and blower motor because they removed it. They advised that is was removed because I asked them to which I never did. The parts were supposedly in the corner but once I had Walt put the heat back in, he tried to charge me for new parts. After it's "finished" AGAIN, I go there to find coolant on the manifold. Seems that the manifold has a crack and is leaking coolant. So, after Walt had my car for several weeks, I do not have a drivable car. It's parked in storage while I recoup my loss. He charged me twice my budget/estimate and never put the correct parts on my car. Worse experience ever and Walt does not know cars which leads to communication breakdowns. They do not double check their work and I would never recommend or use them again.

You're crazy

According to Walt's employees, "Walt knows nothing about cars and what it takes to fix them correctly. He's just a salesman. He just wants the job done as cheap as possible. He will tell us to make the parts work off of old parts so he doesn't have to buy new ones". You got me Walt. I spent and extra $1,800 for a car that is still leaking the trans fluid you said was fixed twice. Get bent. Your "fabrication work" is making parts that don't fit, fit. The reason I won't let you touch the car anymore is because you f***ed it up by not doing it right. You broke my door and didn't fix it until I said something. Then you rigged that. I asked for new front brake lines included in the estimate and you changed out a brand new master cylinder for no reason. Still no brake lines. I gave you 4 chances to get it right and you failed miserably. You're not worth my time to continue. Making me spend my hard earned money on your shoddy work. I could have done everything you did on my own.

Pontiac Engine Swap

AUTHOR: Walt - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, October 11, 2015

Could not disagree more.  This customer called us wanting to swap a motor he had bought from his "buddy" and said "his buddy" said everything would match up perfectly which it did not.  We had to fabricate brackets on the front end of the motor for the power steering and alternator, modify the trans cross member, and during the swap, we found the gas tank leaked, plus other issues which we corrected.  He then wanted to add a Vintage Air unit down the road so at his request, we pulled the heater box to save him money down the road.  He then said he wanted heat and didn't realize this meant pulling the heater box even though we told him that so AT OUR EXPENSE and in good faith, we re-installed a BRAND NEW heater box.  Yes there was an issue with one of the belts that did cause the car to come back which we fixed.  Then after that, unfortunately his starter failed which we informed him off but he declined to change.  We bent over backwards for this customer but when people supply their own parts and think everything will be smooth since the person selling them the parts say so, thatr is seldom if ever the case, especially when swapping engines.
