Being fed up with the non assistance from either I made a request to close my account on October 24 2011, again the 25, and the 26th. Every day I called and emailed to get this acomplished. Every day there was some kind of excuses on why I could not close my account. I even notified them that there would not be any additional money comming into the account, and I did not approve of any transcations after the 25th thefore it would be at thier cost.
The first day we had to wait for things to clear and again on the 25th. THe local bank wrote out a check for .12 cents to close the account on the 26th, however on the 26th they charged me a $4.00 atm card fee and stated that transaction made my acocunt reopen and then two additional unauthorized transcations came through which accruded many addtional over charges.
When I called the local office, the bank teller Lisa was etremely rude and had no regard how her ignorance of completing her duties to close this account or the trouble she had caused by her failure to complete the request, she laughed and said call support, I can't help you.
I report was emailed to her supervisor on the 27th of October with all the information of the weeks activities and were to locate the errors on the register. It took her until the 16th of November to respond back and indicated that the account had not been closed. I did not repond back as my account should have been closed on the 26th of October already. ALso her responce stated " I reviewed this and spoke to my supervisor I do not see where we did anything wrong. Seriously I was certain that would be the respose, sure would hate them to own anything they do.
This banking firm is a rip off and steals consumers money, also will manipulated the system to keep a person from closing thier account and you can get better customer service are uneducated and extremely unprofessional.
Lucky for me I retained all communication of written and verbal in case we need to go legal.

You may not agree with it, you aren't going to like it - but if anything is to come from the fees you paid - at least you can learn from it. ALL banks post transactions largest to smallest......NO bank can ever tell you when the checkcard transaction will hard post.....If your bank charges you a fee for paying a check, they are doing you a HUGE favor since the penalties that would be assessed to you by the original payee are often worse than any bank penalty. Ask your next bank if you can "opt out" when it comes to check card transactions. Just be prepared to have any check card transaction declined if the funds are not available. If the funds are available at the time - be sure that you do not have any outstanding check, or an auto draft pre-authorized to post out of your acct. Bringing your acct to $0 will not relieve you of any responsibility of a pre-authorized payment. I've been in banking 24 years (bank manager as well) and do not believe you deserve the severe criticism delivered to you on previous posts. I do hope that you read the responses that will offer suggestions (and a little tough advice). Good luck.

How banks work....

I would like to respond to a few of your statements and then offer some suggestions:
I retained the print outs that would show persay in the morning what the with drawls were. THe next date the transcations would be replaced in a completely sequence to cause me more charges.
If you maintain a check register and do not spend more money than you have, a reposting from highest to lowest, lowest to highest, alphabetically, or by the third letter of the company's name won't cause you any additional fees. Yes, banks have a policy of posting items largest to smallest. They do that because they believe clients actually WANT their car payment or mortgate to go through before the $20 you have your Nephew for his birthday.
The printouts also reflected charges for the nsf and rtn checks for each item
NSF and Returned Item fees are two different things. When you are overdrawn and the bank decides to pay the incoming item, you are charged an NSF fee (Non-sufficient funds). If you are overdrawn and the bank decided NOT to pay an incoming item, you are charged a Returned Item fee. You won't see two different fees for the same item.
Double dipping and stated I would not be able to claim any of that on my taxes.
Why would you think you can claim NSF or Returned Item fees on your taxes?
...however on the 26th they charged me a $4.00 atm card fee and stated that transaction made my acocunt reopen and then two additional unauthorized transcations came through which accruded many addtional over charges
Anytime your account is in a "pending closed" status, any incoming credit or debit could reopen the account. I assume you knew about the ATM withdrawal which you paid a $4 ATM fee for since you aren't claiming someone stole your debit card and made a fraudulent charge. For the two "unauthorized transactions" that come through, did you speak with Region's fraud department? Were these two items unknown to you? If so, you should dispute them. If you're saying they are unauthorized because you began the account closing procedure and assumed the bank wouldn't allow any further charges, you are incorrect. If you knowingly and willingly gave a merchant permission to debit your account, you are legally obligated to pay the merchant. Closing your account does not erase that obligation.
...and I did not approve of any transcations after the 25th thefore it would be at thier cost
Again, just because you're closing your account does not mean you are not obligated to pay merchants the money you owe.
...bank teller Lisa was etremely rude and had no regard how her ignorance of completing her duties to close this account or the trouble she had caused by her failure to complete the request...
I assure you, the bank did nothing wrong in their attempts to close your account. If merchants continue to debit your account, the account will remain open. If the account has a negative balance, it will remain open.
It took her until the 16th of November to respond back and indicated that the account had not been closed.
Was the account at a zero balance? If not, it will not close.
A few suggestions:
1. Don't use your debit card. Merchants can take 3-5 business days to "batch out" and request payment from the bank so your funds may stay in a "pending" status for a few day, drop off and show available in your balance, and then post.
2. Don't use online banking as your only tool for keeping track of your funds. Online banking is great - don't get me wrong - but it has no idea how many checks you have written that haven't been cashed or if you have former pending debit card transaction that will post overnight. The only way to know how much money you have available to spend is to keep a check register. Hate the thought of carrying around a book and writing everything down, try a mobile app. Yep, there are even check register apps!
3. Opt out of Overdraft Coverage. When you accept overdraft coverage, you're telling the bank that if you swipe your debit card and don't have the funds available, you want the bank to approve the transaction and you'll pay an overdraft fee (normally $30-$36). If you decline this coverage, if you swipe your debit card and don't have the fund, the transaction will be declined - and you won't get a fee! NOTE: This ONLY works with everyday check card purchases. It DOES NOT cover checks, ACH (electronic check transaction), or recurring check card puchases.

I'm not just picking out random companies i don't even know. To post untrue things about them. Which is what y'all say i do which is pure "CRAZY". The things that i reported on this site "HAPPEND" to me. I know the "TRUTH" & that is all that matters.

The things i reported in my complaint's did happen to me. You are here to "PROTECT" bad businesses. Good businesses want to resolve any problems. But "Bad Busineses" want to attack the customer.
OH.....I'm STILL waiting on you to answer the legitimate questions which I previously asked of you. Do you have the intestinal fortitude to even TRY to answer them ?? No, I thought not. This, of course, being due to the fact that if you were to TRUTHFULLY answer those questions, it would be admitting that EVERYTHIING that EVERYONE on this site has had to say about you over the last 10 years, is indeed factual ( which, of course, it is ). And you would NEVER admit to the truth about yourself, would you Charles ???? NeanderthalCretin.

After reading your VERY poorly written Ripoff Report....

"I had a few checks that had ran into my account and I acruded service charges."
Did these "few" checks that had "ran into your account" do so all by themselves, or did you, perhaps, have a hand in it?
"THe local bank wrote out a check for .12 cents to close the account on the 26th, however on the 26th they charged me a $4.00 atm card fee and stated that transaction made my acocunt reopen and then two additional unauthorized transcations came through which accruded many addtional over charges."
What were these "additional unauthorized transactions" that accruded (sic) many additional overcharges?
Before you move your account to some other bank, you should learn to keep an accurate check register with ALL your transactions as they are made. Then make SURE any deposits you make have been credited AND available.
Failure to do this will lead to the same kind of "stupid, ignorant" actions from all the employees at your
new bank.
