I have been a client of Regis hair salon for nearly 3 years. I recently came in as a walk-in as my regular 2 stylists were booked out. I came in for highlights and a cut.I have naturally curly(tight) shoulder length(had)hair.

After my Highlights, I instructed Nikkie to the length I need trimmed. I provided her with a photo from a magazine of a style similar to mine, just a little shorter. I asked her to cut 1 1/2'" of the ends. She started at the back of my hair, so I didn't see the amount of hair being cut. When she proceeded with the sides and front I was turned away from the mirror, so I didn't realize that she had just cut nearly 5-6 " off my hair. I was in such shock I left the salon and my husband (unfortunately) paid the salon.

3 days later I came into the salon and had Nikkie touch up some of the highlights and I complained to her about how much hair she took off. My hair when left curly now appears to be 7-8 inches shorter. The bottom layer touches the top of my neck. I then told nikkie that I never permitted her to cut beyond the inch 1/2. She ignored my complaints and offered no apologies.

After about a week the humidity intensified and my hair looked absolutely terrible curly, so I started using a flat iron, which looked way better, added a little length and actually looked like a style.
Only problem was it takes an hour with my cheap flat iron to get this look, so I called regis salon and spoke with the manager of the salon, Marie.

I explained the trouble I was having with my hair and requested the salon provide me with a Chi straightener to manage a haircut I never asked for. She giggled and said I cannot 'give' you a straightener, however, I will give you the hair cut $ back.

I called Regis corporate office and filed a complaint. They offered me a $20 gift card and the haircut $ in return for the stylists negligence. I told them no, it took me several years to achieve the length of hair the stylist took off and I felt the only reasonable thing Regis could do was give me a straightener after all I was givin a haircut only someone with straight hair could wear.

As the week went on I was growing frustrated with my hair. Unbelievably, the Manager, Marie called my cell phone and asked If I was going to return to get my $. She then stated that she spoke with Nikkie and Nikkie stated she did not cut more than I asked off my hair. The defensive attitude of this manager was absolutely rude. I cant believe she could not have just apologized.

I then began thinking...BS. She's basically calling me a liar. So I called the salon to see if one of my regular stylists was in and I then came down to the salon. My regular stylist and manager both came up to me and my regular stylist verified my hair was a little past my shoulders and she also stated she had seen me in the salon with my long hair that day of service. Even then Manager Marie offered no apologies and said you need to take this up with corporate.

Come to find out the stylist has only been licensed since April.

I think too many of us consumers are paying a steep emotionally and economic price for the negligence of these "professionals"

I have contacted a consumer rights attorney and he feels they may be liable to provide me with hair extensions and services until the hair grows back.
Some may say this is so trivial because hair grows back. But because of the curly nature of my hair, it tends to break off and grow very slow.

I take my kids to Mastercuts (owned by regis). I figure I have spent over $1,000.00 in the past 2 years in their salons. I cant believe they are willing to part with a loyal customer over a hair straightener.

Well...... Let me start off I just got my license..... And that does not mean anything..... Most of the stylist with more "experience" thats all that they have. They don't take classes to better themselves, because they think they know every thing, they are complacent.... As a new stylist I was surprised to see how much better my skills are compared to the other "experienced" stylist..... As for you hair problem curly hair is tricky to work with...... Even if take off an inch. The curls gets tighter because they are lighter...... So it will apear to look shorter than it is,pluse an Inch and a half to me might be different to you, as far as the flat iron, well that is crazy...... You should of taken the refond and the $20 and bought a new flat iron your self.... I think what they offered you was fair and you just got mad and went over the edge.... Thats like going to a car wash and saying you did not
Like the out come, and you demand a new car. There are cheaper flat irons out there that work just as well is (CHI) witch i personally don't care for .....try blow drying you or hair straight..... Takes less time. Any way people make mistakes even if they are new or experianced...... How do you think new stylist get better...... Practice.

You should have got a Straightener...at least

I agree, you should have at least gotten a straightener.  Regis lopped off my son's hair, too.  Hair is not something that can be replaced.  Once it's gone, it's gone. Oh- it will grow back...eventually.  Do you know how long it takes the average person to re-grow 5-6'' of hair?  I also wrote a letter to corporate after being treated horribly by the stylist and the manager at my local salon.  My son came in with bangs almost to his eyebrows and left with NONE.  I asked her to TRIM the bangs.  When I demanded an explaination, the stylist said "I never heard you mention the bangs."  If you have a client come in with bangs, and supposedly don't hear instructions on how to trim them, why would you take it upon yourself to chop them off without so much as asking first?  They hire people with little to no experience right out of beauty school.  DO NOT, I REPEAT- DO NOT pay these people to mess your hair up.

Free extensions?

Okay lady, I work at Regis and there is no way you are going to get free hair extensions. First you want a free straightener because that is supposedly the only way you look decent and the one you already own is a piece of crap. Who's fault is that? If you were that worried about your appearance you would have a good flat iron already! You didn't have the nerve to stop them when it appeared they weren't cutting correctly, but you can get on here and tell everyone else that you are suing them for hair extensions? It sounds to me like you are a sue-happy, never going to be pleased client that the salon will probably not miss anyway. From now on I suggest you ask to see the licenses of the stylists since it is usually mandatory to have them posted in the salon and then you can see for yourself who has been doing it the longest. I also suggest you find a stylist whom you are comfortable with and become their loyal customer so you can avoid future instances like this.

I made a typo - If you care about your hair then find a SALON that will do what you want done - These walk in places are just that - They do their job and just that - I have been to Regis, Super Cuts, etc etc - Paying $13 for a haircut is just like choosing Burger King over Mortons Steak House

You obviously didn't make your desired style clearly known to the stylist before she cut your hair. Showing some random magazine photo of what you want but "just a little shorter" leads much to interpretation.

As for your demands for a state-of-the-art straightener to be given to you free of charge, that is absolutely ridiculous.

The salon more than rectified the situation by refunding the cost of the haircut in full -- THAT is all you are entitled to!

The go to a salon not a walk in - I do not let anyone touch my hair except my Stylist - she knows my hair and works with what I want done

curly hair

first of all, you should have asked this stylist "can you do curly hair" im a stylist myself. curly hair can be a challenge! key to cutting curly hair is cut half or less of the clients request. wet curly hair is almost straight-cut 1.5 inches, it will look like 5 inches was cut when dry! i know, im dating a woman with very curly hair!

So you got a $13 haircut you didn't like, and you wanted the company to give you the money to buy a $150 flat iron for your trouble?
Come on now, NO hair salon would or should do that. I think offering to refund you for the cut is plenty.I wouldnt be suprised if you had a unrealistic haircut in mind before you got in the chair, based on your outrageous demands afterward.
