I have been insultad and disrespeted by Rent A Center for the last time! I am not the best on paying on time with rent a center, but I do, however pay my bill with late fees and all. I have been cursed in front of , called a liar by the acting manager and approached in an unacceptable manner.

I had taken the initiative to make a call to them to let them know that I was going to be in after 2 p.m. that afternoon to make the payment along with late fees and was immediatly accused of being a liar. I, in return , got on the defensive and cursed at the manager and then she had said that I did not need to use such language to her and then I reminded her of the time that one of her employees had used to the same language in front of me while I was a making a payment at her store and assumed it was a policy of there's to do so?!

I simply closed the conversation with giving her the reassurance of me being in later on in the afternoon and hung up. Not even 5 minutes later, as I was making a phone call to Rent A Center's headquarter's, she pulls up hastily into my drive in her personal vehicle and walks fast up to my door with the look that she was going to do some serious damage to me as a person. Yes, I was terrified and did not answer the rapture of her house call. I have been dealing with Rent A Center for some time now and was very shocked and appaled at this type of procedure.

I mean, I have even sent them a christmas card in the past and have sent them praises. Well, I am continuing to make payments on my furniture because I do love the furniture and wish to keep it untill payments are done.I just feel that they are being this way because I am close to payoff and want thier merchandise back. If I had not already sunk so much time and money into my contract, I would be happy to return it. But, at this point and time, I cannot do so or I would have lost out on a lot of money that they are receiving from me.

Also, I have checked out the BBB and found out they are not registered with them.I presume that that cannot be a good thing for thier store. They are very sick and disturbing people and should no longer be able to run that imperticular store.I just wish this never had happened and wish that the staff was better at consumer relations. The tactics that use are very disrepectful and very hurtful considering that they do carry quality products. If the staff were as good as the products, they would not have any problems. That is just my beleif.I strongly feel as if my character has been defimated and I have been trully hurt by this.

THE TRUTH!! **read this**

Im not from that area.. but I worked for RAC for over 2 years. Managers arent supposed to leave the store in your district? I dont believe it but maybe its a rule there. A rule that Im sure is broken all the time. You are there from 8am to 8pm (standard) but who is going to stay? Managers leaving to the bank, store, or field visits are common!! It even states as part of procedures that managers are supposed to field visit customers who are over 15 days late!!! But not storm up to their door and belittle them.
Now if youre late, you need to communicate with the store of course. But picking up an account just because its late doesnt solve anything. Taking partial payments and extending an account is common practice. But communication is key!
Unfortunately, not all people think alike. The long hours get to people. The amount of skips/stolens get to people.. And eventually everyone becomes a number or percentage. So when it comes down to it RENT TO OWN SUCKS!!

While the statute that you quote is accurate, it is reprehensible that you would take it out of context in order to threaten and intimidate a consumer. Everyone needs to know that not only in FL but every other state has similar laws, but they DO NOT give Rent-A-Center the right to trespass, harrass or come to your residence and threaten you in any way!! The statutes are in place to provide remedy UNDER THE LAW. This means pursuing those remedies through the correct judicial channels. Rent-A-Center does have the right to file criminal charges or pursue the matter civilly. What they don't have the right to do is circumvent those channels with their own brand of "take no prisoners" approach to collections. Should a representative show up at your house banging on your door, ringing your bell non-stop, call the police. If they threaten on the phone that they will call the police and be at your house to take action, save them the trouble and call the police yourself. The police will inform them to leave...period! And should anyone ever experience the "man putting his foot in her door and trying to push his way in" then you should file an assault and battery charge against that individual. Do not let Rent-A-Center bully you into believing the laws do not apply to them! Regardless of what property you have or what money you owe, it does not give them a free pass to put their hands on you, break into your home or disturb the peace. Pay your bills, but if you fall on hard times KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!!!! Don't let the people you owe money tell you what they are. Being uneducated and therefore intimidated is what they are relying on.

Well For One, Rent-A-Center Does Not Train Its Employees To "Make Everyones Experiance Horrible" #2. As To You Telling Customers To Call The Cops On Our Employees When We Have A Right To Reclaim Our Merchindise and are protected by the law to do so, as well as a written agreement, if the police do show up, and the customer refuses still to give back the rented merchindise that is evidence of retail theft, and an attempt to defruad a rental company (which is a 3rd degree felony in Florida) here is the text of that law verbatum as follows:

FAILURE TO REDELIVER HIRED OR LEASED PERSONAL PROPERTY.--Whoever, after hiring or leasing any personal property or equipment under an agreement to redeliver the same to the person letting such personal property or equipment or his or her agent at the termination of the period for which it was let, shall, without the consent of such person or persons knowingly abandon or refuse to redeliver the personal property or equipment as agreed, shall, upon conviction, be guilty of a misdemeanor of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083, unless the value of the personal property or equipment is of a value of $300 or more; in that event the violation constitutes a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.

That is On All The Rental Agreements In Florida, And The Customers Who Fail to make contact for more then 7 days and we have to goto there house to attempt to reclaim our merchindise and refuse to give it up, it this is the law that they are breaking!.... I Have Nothing Else to say about this "Former Employee" Except that hes probily a disgruntled employee that got fired for not doing his job correctly..and trying to deface a ligitimate company, if so many people are unhappy, why does rent-a-center have the HIGHEST, Percentage Of Happy Customers That PAY OFF THERE ACCOUNTS!!! W/O Hastle!

In response to Exemployee

Clearly you were fired for doing something you shouldn't have been doing with the company. All I have seen from you is rebuttals stating scare tactics and how horrible the company is. Are you working for Aarons or a competitor now? Is this why you say so many things that aren't true?

Store Managers NOW (I don't know about when you were with the company) are expected to be in the store at all times. My SM was pissed about it, but it's the case... he's not allowed to leave the store.

Stop being bitter about how your time came to an end with the company and tell the truth. I have never been "trained to give someone a horrible experience" and in fact I consider myself one of the best in Customer Service. I'm not sure what your story is, but you're not helping anyone in your posts... the only thing you're doing is going around stirring up anger and using scare tactics on consumers. Please stop.

Exemployee RentaCenter is a HORROR

AUTHOR: Ex-employee - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 19, 2008

As an ex-employee of RentaCenter, I can only empathize with consumers as this one.

Store managers nationwide are and expected to leave the store on occasion.
So, your rebuttal is totally false.

Continue to make calls to the corporate hotline number -each and every time you feel harassed or disrepected in any way.

When dealing with people like this...SIMPLY.... tell them to leave your property and the next time they appear you will call the police for trespassing. Its your home and you want a safe and comfortable living there. NOW>>>follow thru...call the police and stop these tactics......IT WILL WORK !!!!

I have a 8 year history with this horrific company and can gladly say "I AM GONE"
I also worked in 5 different states with RentaCenter and have years of being a store manager within that history.

The staff is horrible in all stores, because RentaCenter trains them to put you thru a horrible experience.

3 billion in revenue last year in 2007 from the poor unaware customers in the USA.
New Jersey finally stood up and said it was like loansharking !!!!!!!!
When will everyone wake up !!!!!

Shawna You Made False Accuations!...About My Store!? Why..

AUTHOR: L. - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 06, 2008

Okay First Off, i was one of the account managers while you were a customer @ that store...secondly the whole part about my manager coming to your house is absoulutly bogus!.. For one managers are not allowed to leave the store at all during the business day.

secondly you were late almost 3 weeks at one point with no communication what so ever your we left messages on your phone you never called back, we left door tags, you still didnt call back as per the rental agreement you signed when you are late you are in default and we have a right to reclaim our merchindise.

you would also relize even if we picked up the furniture you wouldent have lost any money you put into it because it stays there and you could have came in when you had the money to pay and start back where you left off...

all im saying is that store is the best store in the district and consistantly voted best customer service in the district so i highly doubt that my manager was as rude as you dipicted, but i was also there that day and you were EXTREMELY Rude, by just by that we have the Right under florida state law to refuse business.. as well as reclaim our merchindise under state law also...
