In Oct. Of 2003 Home depot advertised a new power tool Co. Ridgid Tools. The were giving a lifetime warranty an there tools including batteries. Having had so many problems with other battery tools I went ahead and spent the extra to get the kit.

Fast forward 5 years the batteries were not holding a charge, so I contacted Ridgid they sent me to an autherized service center were they happily changed them out but what the did not do was give me a paper trail for the new batteries. Here it is 6 years later same problem with the batteries no charge. Contacted Ridgid cause now the center is no longer around.

They said take it to Home Depot. So I did first thing I was told that if I did not register the tools No warranty. I said were does it say that on the sales brochure. He read what I had with me and had to agree it does not, it says just bring the original reciept. We all know the recipts today disappear so I have a copy of the reciept from when the batteries were replaced, figured that would be a problem since it is not original. (which by the way is pretty much blank now). When the batteries were replaced the first time No paper work was given. Just a notation that the were replaced on 7/17/08.

The warranty Co. said sorry No paper work No warranty. I asked how I can have something that was never given to me?

Waht a bunch of Crap. If any one ever does a class action law suit please contact me and include me.

Really???

AUTHOR: Chip - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, July 16, 2014

So far every Rebuttal says I did not register the product? But No One has given me proof it was needed.

Did any one bother to read the brochure? If so were exactly does it say it must be registered?

There is NO (*) for fine print saying that.

So here are the facts no that are Not in despute.

I have the reciept, I have the brochure stating what must be done for them to honor the warranty for the product that was sold to me. Really were would I get a reciept if I was not the original buyer?

One of the comments was that I am trying to get something I do not deserve. Really well when I make an agreement to do something I don't use slimey ways to not do it, I do it becouse I made that agreement.

Please all the company rebuttals SHOW me something dated from that time frame saying send in this or that and I will apoligize and stop this.

DO not reply without the proof I did something wrong !!

The way I read the Lifetime Service agreement IT shows one * talking about the 90 day service agreement.

No wear else. And certanly nothing about the Lifetime Service Warranty.

Untill I have proof positive I made the mistake I will Never buy another product from Home Depot and I will tell all that I know about this.

Sears Crafstmen here I come again, at least when they say Lifetime they mean it!!

registering...

I can tell you WHY the batteries were replaced. They probably had access to information that allowed them to do an exchange. They probably just did a generic customer satisfaction replacement. Which would account for the lack of any receipt. There WAS NO SALE!!! It was JUST an exchange. It has been a common practice since the 1980's to register your product within a certain time frame. Before the web was invented you would mail in a small card to the manufacturer with the appropriate information. Once the web came out, most of that switched to the web for the sake of expedience. While you DID protect yourself by copying the receipt, you did not register the product in the time frame allowed. Which means that THEY HAVE NO INFORMATION ON YOUR PURCHASE!!! As a rule I ALWAYS keep ALL packaging and paperwork. Even if it doesn't seem important, its VERY important to do so. Odds are that there WAS a warrenty card in the product originally. Odds are that there was MORE information in the packaging for the item you purchased. If ALL you are basing this on is what the receipt says, then YOU have made an assumption. When you assume you do so at your own risk. Since you made this purchase in 2003, that would mean that the web was available to use for putting your warrenty information to them. That means that if you didn't register it, then they aren't going to be able to help YOU. The WHY on this is actually just common sense. THEY are NOT going to buy ANY story that is going to cost them extra money on something they CANT prove. I will give you an example. Lets say someone is attempting to get their batteries replaced, BUT they were NOT the original purchaser. Lets go just a smidge farther. Lets for the sake of this explanation say that this person has picked this item up at a yard sale. Since the item was never registered, they have no information as to WHO made the purchase. Customer service DOESNT MEAN take it in the @ss because a customer wishes to whine and complain. Its a BUSINESS!!! Its in business TO MAKE MONEY!!! They wouldn't be making much in the way of money if they complied with any request for "Free" batteries. If THEY cant prove it was YOU that registered the item in question then THEY aren't going to do anything for you due solely to the FACT that the American Consumer is a lying, cheating, stealing machine. That thinks NOTHING of screwing over others in favor of THEM getting ahead. WE HAVE DONE THIS TO OURSELVES!!!!! Its OUR friends and neighbors and family members who have put us ALL in situations like this. The general dishonesty of the average American is STAGGERING in its scope and scale. The average American Consumer feels NO PITY when a business gets screwed over in favor of THEM getting their way. The Average American Consumer feels NO GUILT!!!! Its ALL about THEM. Even the most righteous person will lie and scam if it gets them their way and THEY don't have to pay anything. I have seen it for too many years working in retail and I don't see this getting better until WE start acting with the integrity AND honesty that WE expect a business to have.

When I bought this Ridgid tool kit I read the flyer that came with it. I will post a copy along with this.

The response was that I did not file the proper paperwork with the Company? If that is true why were the batteries replaced 1 time already? Is it my fault that I was given No paperwork at that time? All that was given to me was my copy of the reciept with a note saying the batteries were replaced a date and it was initialed.

I do not know when the Co. required you to send in paperwork but that is Not what the ad said that is why I still have it, if and when they started that was most likely after my tools were bought. Sorry you can not change the game in the middle!

So whom ever sent the rebuttal Show me were I went wrong?

The premise that I did something incorrect

AUTHOR: Chip - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, June 17, 2014

If that is true why did the service center replace the batteries in July of 08? I produced the original reciept that was almost gone. They being helpful coppied it untill it was legible. Also when was it required to register the product as you have described? The brochure that I have states this word for word.

Limited Lifetime Service Warranty*

on all Ridgid *handheld and stationary power tools purchased between September 1 - December 31, 2003

Includes free service on normal were items like batteries, brushes, motors, gears, and switches.

REDEMPTION

Bring your tool with original purchase reciept to your local Autherized Service Center for RIDGID* Power tools.

This is what I have reatined since October of 2003.

Also they are not saying I didn't register my tool and No warranty, I was told no warranty becouse the only proof of the battery replacement is a hand written note with the date and and set of intials.

If the palce they sent me to did not give me a reciept how then am I suppose to produce it? Also why if there service center closed is there not a paper trail on their end. As I can give the date and location when they were exchanged.
