Company came to repair basic malfunctioning AC unit. Company overcharged by 300% and refuse to issue refund!
Company came on a very hot day when I needed my AC repaired. The repairs were simple: Contactor = $358.00 and Dual Capacitor = $358.00 and Start Kit = $358.00 which they agree to "discount" for a grand total with labor of $750. I found out when my typical AC repair resource returned from his vacation that I had been overcharged a lot. The basic parts would not amount to more than $100 anywhere else and labor would also run around $100. The Contactor costs about $20-$30 dollars and estimate the job at about 20 mins.
The Dual Capacitor costs about $15 and takes about 20 mins to replace The Start Kit costs about $30 and also takes about 20 min to rteplace...So grand total should be about $75 in parts and about 1 hour in labor!!! NOT $750!!!

Other data points online (yelp) confirmed his assessment:

- and -

Moreover they had the gut to send out a sales rep to tried to convince to replace my entire unit (which again only needed basic work as per my AC repair resource) for over $8000!!! Again on-line resource confirmed their despicable sales tactics which seem to be common for this ncompany which recently (Jan 2014) changed their name from One Hour heating and AC to Right Time Home services due to the immense amount of negative reviews online! They are predators and need to be disciplined!

I reached out to their manager a few days after the repair when my AC repair resource told me how badly i had been overcharged. I also reached out to my credit card company for a formal investigation. Their manager patrick mottola (951) 328 5980 called me a month (30 days) after my voice mail claiming he had just taken over for the previous manager. He thanked me for sharing my experience with them but that since I had signed their contract there was nothing he could do...as if signing a contract for necessary repairs for which one is clearly overcharged is LAWFUL! I am seeking a refund for the overcharge of $550! I left him another message 3 days ago saying I would post my experience on-line, file a complaint with BBB and pursue this legally if I did not hear back from him on a settlement...so far nothing from this company (which frankly does not surprise me one bit!)

Let me tell you this:

This company does do great work, except they charge you an arm and a leg for the work.  I made a mistake swapping out my furnace and air conditioner unit thinking they do price match guarantee, but it was all a lie.  After they completed the work, I had several estimates from other A/C companies under bid RighTime by more than $5000.  They are not even registered to receive any rebates through so cal edision or gas company.  I think back in perspective, this company will not last very long the way they run their business.  They entice you with 5 years monthly payment credit no interest, but you pay for it in the end.  I would not recommend this company unless you perfer paying 40% more then their competitors.  I regret signing the contract before doing my research, a big lesson learned.

You call to have your air conditioner repaired on a hot day when your regular repair person is unavailable.  Then you complain about how your over charged for parts.  You had the opportunity (I'm assuming here) to say no that cost is to high thank you for your time I'll wait for my unavailable regular repair person who doesn't have the over head that your large company has and who will charge me much less for parts to repair it.  If your car needed all the tires replaced and you were charged $150 per tire then found out later the company who replaced them, gets them for $10 each would you file a complaint against them?

You state that the contractor charged you $358 for the service call.  You didn't think that was to much?  Was it a Sunday?  Was it a holiday?  Was this an emergency?  I was charged $99 for a service call on a week day, non emergency and I was told up front what the service call charge would be.  It sounded fair as I have a back gound in field service repair.  Parts cost?  You can't compare apples to oranges here.  Right Time Home Services has way more over head then a private contractor.  Of course parts and labor are going to cost more.  A company has the right to charge anything they want for their product.  If you weren't happy with the cost of the parts then you should have said, no that's to much thank you for your time and called someone else.  Your complaint makes it sound like you weren't displeased with the cost until your little guy told you what he gets the parts for.  Does your little guy drive a fancy van and wear a nice uniform?  Is he backed by a corporation that offers a wide array of services and products?  Total to have my 15 year old unit repaired was $1086.  It sounded like a truck when it turned on.  It was old it needed replacing.  Of course that discusion is going to be brought up.  And I opted for replacing it using Right Time Home Services.  The cost of the repairs of the old unit was deducted from the cost of the new unit.  They did a great job, were professional and followed through with everything they said they would do.  Now I'll save a wad of cash on my electric bill by having a more energy efficient unit.

Bottom line here is, was the air conditioner fixed?  Yes, so you got what you wanted.  Found out later you could have saved a lot more money if you had waited for your regular service guy so you lash out at Right Time Home Services.  I suggest you have a back up inexpensive repair guy to use when your "regular" guy is on vacation.
