river valley credit union overdraft fee abuse by reorderin checks eg: clearing largest check first ada Michigan

being a sloppy record keeper I on occasion overdraw my checking account usually costing $25. but this time they used a computer program to reorder the clearing of my checks to maximize the overdraft fees.  starting balance $101.31 checks were deducted starting with the largest first $149.04 putting me into overdraft, than they deduced cks  $30.00, $2.08 , and $25.20 for a total of $100 in fees.       went to ask them to refund the charges, the person i talked to was abrupt and rude and dismissive, like so what f-off in so many words. what they are doing is not yet illegal, but many banks have signed consent agreements to stop this practice and refund the overcharges.  one is currently apealing a $210 million judgement.no law firm is going to try to recover from such a small insitution, and since i have direct deposit they will get the money before i do, so i have no leverage.  I will be changing soon, but i will ask about overdraft fees. Just because something is not yet illegal does not make it right. FU   River Vally!
