SEO Reputation Management at its best!

I have been contacted several times by recruiters of the Robert Half Technology office in San Antonio because of my resume on job boards Monster. I sent my resume each time that I was contacted with no response.

Recently, I received a call from one of their recruiters. I talked with him and was scheduled for an afternoon appointment. I arrived 10 minutes before the appointment time however I was not invited to an interview room for over 15 minutes. After I waited another 15 minutes, I asked the receptionist if I would get the opportunity to talk with the recruiter today. She stated that she just reminded the recruiter that I was in the interview room.

I wait another 10 minutes for the recruiter. Because I wasted 40 minutes of my time waiting for the recruiter without ever meeting him, I decided that Robert Half Technology really didn't have the professionalism or courtesy to have me represent them to their clients by walking out of the appointment.

I never received an apology from the recruiter, the office manager or any other representative of Robert Half Technology for the rude, unprofessional, and discourteous conduct. I believe that Robert Half Technology never had any jobs that matched my qualifications and were hoping to present prospective clients that they had collected from naive job candidates.

Robert Half.....Never Again!

AUTHOR: Qd - (U.S.A.)

I see I am not the only person who got burnt by this pseudo-agency, which is comforting yet disturbing at the same time. I was recently laid off from my job and attended a Monster.com job fair. I stopped by an Office Team table and left my info, not knowing that they were related to Robert Half at the time. Well, three hours later I get home and there's a voicemail from some guy at Robert Half saying my resume was passed to him by Office Team and he is working on a few positions that would match my skills. I'm invited for an interview and show up Tuesday of the following week. We go through the whole interview deal, he tells me a little about the "client"" and what they're looking for. Ok, one thing he asked me that I thought was a little off was what other people I was interviewing with. After I told him, he was like "wow that sounds like a really neat prospect. I sure hope you get that job."" Maybe that's just me but it sounded kinda warped. I mean I'm interviewing for a position with your company but you're hoping I get placed with another? Anyway, he asked for 4 references which I readily supplied....he told me that I should call my references and notify them that they would be receiving phone calls within the same day. He also said I was eligible for online training and all I needed to do was send him an email to request a login. I sent him the email last week (along with notes for the best time to reach my references) and have heard nothing. I also checked with my references and NONE of them have been contacted. It's been an ENTIRE week!!! This morning I decided to call and check, cause hey maybe he's been sick or something. The receptionist tells me that he's in an interview (probably reeling in another poor sucker) and invites me to leave a voicemail. So basically I called him out on neglecting to check my references and respond to my emails. He had all day to call or email and I have yet to receive a response. Never have I dealt with such poorly trained people. With all these complaints I've read, I am surprised to see that they are still in business.

AUTHOR: Margaret - (U.S.A.)

I was laid off in May 2006 following a 15 yr tenure as an Office Manager. The company was sold and downsized.

I signed up with various temp agencies and Robert Half's, Office Team in The Woodlands, Texas was one of them. I had a 10 am appointment. I arrived about 9:45 and filled out the required paperwork and sat and waited. It was at least until 11:15 before I was finally seen.

The prissy girl whose name I have since forgotten brought me into her office and asked me what I was looking for. I told her about my previous Position and what I was looking for in a new position. I took their required computer tests and scored acceptable.

After completing the test she gave me her business card and asked me to call her in a few days. Which I did. She told me in the interview "we have wonderful opportunities"!

In the next few weeks I noticed some of those opportunities on line and called to find out why I had not been contacted. The receptionist who was essentially a snob said " those jobs are out of other offices, you will have to contact them yourself. I contacted the other offices and before I could introduce myself as a job seeker that was registered with one of their locations they were trying to invite me in to register. After I was finally able to get a word in to explain I did not need to sign up, the attitude turned nasty and they would basically said "oh those jobs are probably filled"

I decided after that I did not want to deal with this unprofessional staffing firm and that all their employees are lying jerks looking to basically collect resumes. They did not have any suitable jobs and since this is the case I wonder how they can afford to stay in business in a high rent distrcit like The Woodlands and not have any work.

I would never use this agency again. I went to a lesser known agency in Northwest Houston and not only did they call me within 4 days of signing up, the first job I went on was with an excellent company with good pay and after 9 monthes of continous work I will be going on permanent. I will be passing the word on to everyone to never sign up with this joke of a placement firm. They are not worth the time of day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No Different Than Other San Antonio Companies

AUTHOR: Ralph - (U.S.A.)

I applied for IT jobs with Citibank, JP Morgan Chase, American Funds/Capital Group and AllianceBernstein in San Antonio. Most people have told me with these companies, the hiring process takes 3 to 4 months at the least. However, these large financial companies have their idiosyncrasies. It takes at least 1 month after you apply before you're called for an interview when they are interested. Even the federal government is faster at processing your application and paperwork. In my case, I never received an acknowledgment of your application even though I matched their job descriptions' requirements.

My experience was very different.

AUTHOR: Larry - (U.S.A.)

I worked for Robert Half for two years and I was completely happy with the situation. Prior to signing with them I worked for another temp agency and the conditions were totally different. With the first I was a 1099 employee and they paid $10.25 an hour, regardless of what the job was. With RHT I made an hourly wage based on what the job was bid, and it ranged from $14.00 and hour up to $22.00. I also got bonuses, vacation and had the opportunity to get health insurance through them, although I already had coverage and didn't need theirs.

At the time I was running a PC repair business on my own, and RHT provided an excellent supplemental income while I was getting off of the ground.

One thing to note though, I took whatever job they called me for, and more than once it was a phone call at 9:00AM needing someone at 1:00PM, but I believe you should never turn down a legal paycheck.

A lot of it depends on who your manager is. They are basically salesmen and if yours is good at selling you'll work a lot.

I'm now working full time in the industry at a job that I got on my own rather than through RHT but I can confidently say that I wouldn't be here if it weren't for the experience I gained through them.

I stand by my statements

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

that I posted in all 3 of the Original posters complaints.

I lived in San Antonio when Toyota announced they were building the factory there.

Cory, how many people did you say applied for how many jobs there?

I WAS an IT professional in San Antonio. I worked for a company that moved me down there, then laid me off a few months later. I needed a job, so I went to work at West (like seemingly EVERYONE in that city) who has worked there at one time or another. I also worked at Rackspace for a while as a temp, until they restructured.

Then it was on to security work, until I couldnt take that anymore. I moved back to NC, where I came from and have been back in the IT field ever since.

I will agree with the OP about the employment services. I know 2 of the 3 he has filed reports on and yes they suck. I have a recuiter with RHT here, and he NEVER gives me any leads. They post the same jobs that match my skills every week, but they dont have any jobs. The postings seem to be standardized just to attract people to send in their resumes.

I'm Only Going To Post This Once

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

Since you posted three times and got the same canned answer three times. Microsoft announced it will build a $550 million data center in SAN ANTONIO. The 400,000 square foot facility will be the software giant's first in Texas. I do understand about the employment services ripoff though.

What did you expect?

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

You are looking for an IT job in a city that has NO jobs, much less IT jobs. Just curious, are you a recent graduate of one the MANY tech schools in San Antonio that seem to advertise every other commercial on tv there?

If you really want an IT job, I suggest you consider moving. When I lived there, there were a few jobs in Austin, but most of the IT jobs were in Dallas or Houston. I suggest you go there if you REALLY want an IT job.
