According to today's media reports, Philadelphia police detective Ronald Dove has been fired because he covered up at least three murders. Dove is being investigated for assisting his girlfriend's flight to another state after she was named as a suspect in the death of the man with whom she lived. Dove is also believed to have covered up at least two other murders and a disappearance. Google his full name for extensive media coverage about his wrongdoing. One can only speculate about why Dove is being made a scapegoat. That is, most of Philadelphia's criminal police officers are not even fired, much less prosecuted, according to an investigation conducted by independent prosecutor Ellen Green-Ceissler. Amnesty International recently proclaimed that Philadlphia's cops are the nation's most brutal and corrupt. With bad officers like Detective Ronald Dove allowed to remain on the force for nearly two decades, is that really a surprise?
