Rooms To Go ripoff the business that doesnt give a dam Macon Georgia
I Purchased Furniture at Rooms to Go in Macon Georgia. I receive the furniture on May 15, 2003. Once the furniture was set up later that evening I notice a gasoline like smell coming from the furniture.
I called the customer service desk at 1-800-766-6786 talked to customer rep. name Peggy. I was told that a technician would be sent out to check the furniture on May 22, 2003. I called back Saturday because the smell was so bad that I had to close off one side of my house.
I was told then that I needed to contact the store in Macon, called them talked to Paula. She said that she would get back with me. Later on that day she left message on the answer machine saying that she would try to get a tech out on Monday but never confirmed that. I went to work Monday because I didnt have confirmation about whether someone was coming out or not. When my husband got home from work there was messages on the machine that the tech was coming to the house.
I called the store manage Damon on May 21st informed him of my dilemma was told that if I went to Kmart or Wal-Mart and purchase a bottle of Ferbeez and spray the furniture the smell will go away within and hour and he would refund me my $80.00 delivery fee if I did this. I did that smell still there.
Called back to the store on Thursday the 22nd and was told that Damon was in Atlanta in a managers meeting to call back Friday at 10:00 well I called back and informed him that his solution to my problem didnt work and was told that my only option was to come in and select a new Bedroom set. I told him that that was the only piece of furniture in that store that I like and that they were forcing me the buy something that I dont want. Also he said that my salesperson should have informed me that that this furniture had this odor.
My reply to that was if I had known that there was a smell I would never have purchased this furniture. I have purchase furniture at a lot of companies I have never in my 47 years experience anything like this. Also a customer service rep. left a message on my answering machine saying hat I need to leave my windows open for three weeks to get the spell out. If you can make sure that this complaint get file I would really appreciate it. I am quite sure there are several.
