When we were shopping for cars, my husband found a 1999 Black Escalade with just over 100,000 miles on it. The salesman couldn't praise this vehicle enough.

We have now had this vehicle roughly nine moths and in that time it has been in their repair shop 6 times for the same repair shaking in the front end and popping noises when you turn it. Every time they had it, it was there from a week to ten days each time. The last time it was there it was to replace a door handle that was costing us 200 dollars after 14 days they still had not begun the work and the repairman informed us it was because we owed 31 dollars on a side note for a 500 dollar repair made just prior to this and the 31 dollars wasn't even due yet.

The 500 dollar repair was for when husband was driving car and gear shift fell off right in his hand and now 2 months later it fell off again. Unreal and they refuse to make the repairs unless we once again give them 500 more dollars.

When I contacted the manager of RPM he said that it was my husbands fault he would not take care of it and the part was nothing but a piece of junk crap pot medal. Well that isn't what they said when the were selling it to us. They could not sing it's praises enough. So I believe GM would be so interested in knowing that a dealer who sold one of their cars considers there parts junk crap pot medal.

At this point I wouldn't even buy a bicycle from RPM Auto Sales located on Grand River in Lansing Mi.

More Rip Offs

AUTHOR: John J - ()

I bought a expedition about a year ago and have had over $3000 plus put into it just for it to run.  It is a piece of junk.  Most recently, my payments are due on the 17 of the month.  They claim to have done a auto debit request from my bank but my bank has no such request.  I have had auto pay for past 16 months with no issues other than them taking two payments out at once and two weeks to credit it back.  They say the payment didn't go through on the 17th and on the 19th, while away from home, they came and repossessed the car without so much as a phone call.  I found out, told them the money has been in the bank and why haven't they tried to contact me if what they say is true instead of repo the car 2 days later.  I went to get the car back with another $225 worth of fees added.  Got car back and it doesn't run, take about 4-5 minutes to get up to 60mph, less than a week ago, put another $175 into it and it ran perfect.  Now transmission doesn't work and engine sputters.  They wont say who towed it or how they towed it since there was no keys that they had.  It is getting looked at now with another $1500 estimate since they towed it.  They refuse to look at it or tell me how it was towed.  Just said if I am an hour late on the payment or they think they try to process payment and cant, they will come back within one hour after midnight to take it again.  I would like to start a Class Action, if there are people out there who would like to join or help start one... uslrg @ hotmail . com

Why didn't we ask for a free warranty

AUTHOR: Ruth - ()

Good question. I suggest that to get the best answer for that question would be to go to their store and shop around for a vehicle. find one that you like drive it, check it out. And then begin your conversation with the salesman.

In the contract there is a sheet that gives you a list of all the possible things that could go wrong with the car. Good right. Read it and ask them what will happen if it does go wrong. NO PROBLEM!!!!!!! he says. For the first 30 days everything is covered for free, after that everything is 50/50. Ok second hand car (things go wrong). But how often really are you driving pull into a gas station try to put the car in park and the gear shift breaks off in your hand along with a huge part of the shaft. 500 dollars to fix it because it is not a 50/50 as previously stated and 2 months later the exact same thing happens. The manager said my husband is shifting gears to hard (how do you do that?) You pull the handle forward and move it to the desired gear.

I tell the manager my husband would have to be hercules to continually break the same part in the exact same way. He responds with this part (on a Cadillac Escalade btw) is a piece of cheap crap pot metal. But we paid 500 dollars for that repair and haven't paid 50/50 for any of the numerous repairs yet.

Oh yes just as a point of further interest, we found out yesterday that we can purchase the whole steering column with gear shift and all for 65 dollars and have it installed for 100. It is a 1 hour job maybe a 1 1/2 hr that took RPM roughly 8 days to complete and we had to reaise cain to get it done then.

My mother was dying we begged them to finish the car, (nothing) we had to take an alternate transportation that ran roughly 200 dollars and ride with family members back and forth to hospice.

Thank you for your response though I appreciate it very much, GM was also surprised at the comment of the dealer when I called to see if there were ever recalls on this particular part and how often does this happen. I am not an ignorant consumer. Hindsight is 20/20. I am hoping to inform other consumers with foresight.

At this point the repairs have been so numerous and taken sooooo long it is hard to keep track of which one happened when, how much we have spent etc. And conveniently their computer crashed according to the repair manager and all of the information lost only corporate would have the information. HaHa let's see how far that goes.

How Much Did He "Praise" It?

If he thought it was such a great car, why didn't you ask for a free warranty?
