We went to Ruby Tuesday for a birthday dinner. Upon arrival I was happy to see the restaurant was almost empty. We have been to Ruby Tuesday in the past with pleasant visits and expected the same.

Upon ordering my wife inquired about the "Cocktail of the Day" which was Tennessee Tea. The waitress said she believed the special ended at 8 or 9 but she would need to check. The waitress returned and told me the special ended at 9. The menu listed this special for Wednesday and did not list a time leading me to believe this would be all day. The manager, Brady West, made his first appearance and said the special ended at 9 and it was a corporate decision he could do nothing about.

I let it go and continued to look at the menu when I noticed a flyer on the table to join "The Club." The flyer said once filling out and turning in to the server the VIP would be eligible for a FREE burger on their birthday. This was my birthday and I inquired with the waitress about the FREE burger. This brought Brady West out again. Again West said the promotion could not be honored because the coupon had to be emailed to the person after they signed up. The form listed nothing about this. I told West he was 2 for 2 on customer service and we did not require anything further from him. West said he could not help with items I inquired about but he would answer any other questions I had.

This is by far the worst customer service I have ever had from management of a restaurant. The food took over 30 minutes to arrive even though the restaurant was practically empty. This is not something I would bring to West's attention after he was so helpful the first two times.

The waitress was pleasant through it all but the manager was useless to say the least. During this tough economic time people expect good service when they spend their hard earned money. With Olive Garden, Apple Bees, Red Lobster, and Tumble Weed right down the road competition is tough. West decided the $2 or $3 drink special or $6 birthday burger was not worth honoring to hold the corporate line. With managers like him you should load up more specials on the menu. It's not like they will be honored. RIP OFF

I work at the company stated in this report. Not at that exact location, but i've never heard of the drink special lasting only til 9. It says all day long on the menu so you should have been able to order it. Also i highly doubt it took 30 minutes for your meal. It doesn't matter what time you walked in the restaurant. The timer starts once you give your order to the waitress. I'm not saying its impossible just highly unlikely. in 30 minutes you could cook like 3 well done steaks.

We did wait 30 plus minutes so its not impossible!

When the restaurant is empty 15-20 minutes is the most it should take.

I'm sure terms and conditions should be listed where promotions are advertised. At least something to the effect of "ask server for details" and nothing was.

The coupon for the free burger states:

1. Complete Form
2. Return to server
3. Sit back and let the VIP status set it

It DOES NOT state go home and check your email for the coupon.

Yes businesses can honor or REFUSE to honor anything and everything on their menu. My point is if they want to "promote" something they need to list the terms where the promotion is listed.

AND "sneaking" the item on your bill would be theft not a ripoff....
Failing to honor promotions is the ripoff!

Thanks and try again.

You had to wait 30 minutes for food? That's impossible!

Sheesh how long do you expect it to take? That's not very long to wait for a meal. Not if its prepared fresh to order.

I'm sure there were terms and conditions on all the stuff that you read. On promotions: You asked they explained the terms and conditions. These probably ARE set by corporate and must be followed. The coupon for a free burger sounds very reasonable to me. They want you to go sign up first before you get your free item.

As for a cutoff time for the drinks, so? A business can set whatever rules they want on their promotion. The waitress informed you of it before you ordered. if they tried to sneak it on your bill later without informing you of the cutoff time that would have been a ripoff.
