We were to handle the logistics for Lucent Technologies Merrimac Valley works. I was in the Haverhill location. For the first 3 months everything seemed to be starting up very slowly. We had just taken over the logistics for a company that failed called Skyway. Nothing seemed to be going as planned. However, we were still working. I believe the Manager got cold feet and decided to give his notice of April of 1999. This left us with myself, and two other people Ryan Boccelli and Nick Kudrivitz. They came on board about 2 to 3 months after I began. I trained them both.
Nick was very headstrong and competitive. However, I feel now as if he was not being heard. Ryan was very quiet and appeared to be a good guy. We had a logistics manager Jeff Puddington, who was an excellent person. However, it was hard for him to be around alot due to him being spread thinly amongst his many projects.
I seemed to do the brunt of the work. Which was fine, because there wasn't really enough to go around. I discovered I was pregnant, I was on Maternity for eight weeks which Ryder treated me very well on. My HR person Pat Devine, seemed to be a wonderful man and very understanding. So, I thought. I was so happy with the way he treated me with my maternity. I gave my newborn son a middle name of Patrick, after Pat Devine.
Ryan however, called me on the phone during my last two weeks of maternity asking when I would be getting back. Partly, I think because he could not stand to be with Nick alone. Partly, because he was clueless to what he was doing.
I got back in September. By November, Ryan had been pushing for the Customer Service managers position. It required extensive travel at the time which I could not do with a 3 month old child at home, as well as two other small children. I supported Ryan in going for the position. He seemed eager, and I thought I knew him enough that he would be respectful and support me when it was possible for me to move ahead.
Ryan got the position. Jeff Puddington resigned a month later. I do not know what transpired. However, I believe it was not very pretty. Because he just seemed to vanish. Early in 2000, I received word thier was a noew logistics Manager, who would be in charge of Ryan and our group for Lucent as well as Graybar Electric. This man's name was Randy Young. This man is evil and the devil, posing to be a geek. He immediately made fun of my New England accent upon our first meeting and hardly said anything else.
We hardly ever saw him at the Lucent location, yet he was in charge. Lucent was paying for 4 people on site, yet all they got was 2 people for almost 1 yr. You wonder why they are going down the tubes. They were also being double charged by Ryder for thier services.
In January, Ryan brought in a female buddy of his he was going to school with at night. Paula Valvo. She had hardly any experience in transportation, but was going to college for leadership. She was hired in February. Didn't do much for about 2 months, than hardly anything after. Except talk about her alcoholic boyfreind, her jailbird brothers, and her sexual exploits of her and her boyfreinds private life.
She had absolutely no class, was a complete pig, not only morally but, physically as well. I noticed after my vacation the two of them were working together to push me out of my job. They did everything possible to be rude, obnoxious and unfair. Including taking two hour lunches for Paula to get her nails done or Ryan would leave for the rest of the afternoon to golf.
Yet I would be on cal 24 hrs a day and every weekend. Until, Paula became the lead customer service person. This lead was given to me before Jeff Puddington left while I was on maternity.
I had the most seniority and experience with the job and Lucent.
I was also in charge of all the transportation responsibilities
by the head of transportation at the two lucent locations I was working for. This meant nothing. They were trying to get me out.
Anytime I was on a project, if Ryan or Paula could not take credit for it they would take it away from me or get angry if I got credit for it or a good review. They would send pornographic emails of people eating each other poop naked. Paula would walk around all day chasing other male employees around and making sexual remarks to them. This woman was in desperate need of attention!!!
I had a great repore with the people at Lucent and they tried to ruin it as much as possible for me. Ryan was suppose to leave our location and transfer to Graybar electric. He told us before he left he was going to feel all of our breasts on the last day. He never left. Paula was always making sexual remarks and if I did a project with any of the Lucent engineers, she would ask me if we were going to get a hotel room, or make sexual remarks saying they wanted me sexually etc.
Last year on presidents day weekend, I made a complaint to Human resources to Pat Devine. A man I thought I could trust. It took over a month for him to send an HR person down. He also sent in Randy Young. After all my complaints, all they did was deny everything. He wanted me to sign a paper to come back to work, that said none of the sexual harrasment was found and I could not complain or press any more charges against them. He also made Paula Valvo the customer service manager. The person who did absolutely nothing. Was morally a complete pig, and an incredible liar. By her doing wrong and getting complained about, she received a Managers position as reward. This is Ryder Inc.
I suggest to anyone who is working for Ryder or planning too, to be very careful of those people. With all thier programs for diversity and harrasment and perks and socially responsible deeds etc. Ryder hides behind this some huge lies. Huge companies can do this. Look at Enron! They hide behind thier mask of do gooders!! I believe it's time for the unveiling of thier true colors!!
