I wanted to launch a complaint on behalf of my fiance. Two days ago he went to safeway store to do something on his laptop and spent an overnight in the starbuck in safeway. He was asked to leave by the store manager and Associate manager on the basis of claiming it does not "look" good for the store. He buys something everyday from there and that is how he was treated.
He was asked to leave on an invalid reason. The other branch of the same store did not mind him staying there overnight because it's okay in their policy as long as he doesnt sleep but for the other branch on mission it was deal. How can there be different policies for the same store but two different branches? Im very frustrated and i would like this to be heard.

Really? Nawww.... NOT really!

So the manager called me and apologized for the misbehavior? That's either [1] Really strange or [2] A tall story. Your 'fiance' was the only source of misbehavior. Why would the manager tender an apology to you for your fiance's misbehavior?.

would assume you've spun this yarn in an attempt to distance yourself from the idiocy of your previous statements.

All night?

AUTHOR: Ramjet - (U.S.A.)

Ha actually had the guts to want to hang out there ALL NIGHT?

The free WiFi is not intended for people to hang around all night long.  That's just nuts.  It would make me nervous to have someone like that hanging around the store all the time.

How unfair! Huh?

AUTHOR: Adolph - (USA)

I suppose  the next complaint issue will be Safeway wanting your freeloading companion to pay for the doughnuts before  he eats them. Just ask Chuckles.

Guess What

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

They gave him a reason, just because you don't like it doesn't mean that it is not a valid one.  The fact is that they are private property and as long as it doesn't violate any discrimination laws they don't even need a reason to tell him to leave.

Here is probably what happened.  The Starbucks inside of other businesses are basically a separate store that have their own hours.  If this one is like most other Starbucks they have free WiFi, they are also not open 24 Hours a Day.  So in effect what your Fiance was wanting to do is to use the WiFi for nothing in a location that was closed and the management of the store stopped him.

If the other store let him then good for them,  but it does not make it a RipOff if the first store asked him to leave.  In fact the only RipOff may be what your Fiancee was trying to pull.

By the way, you obviously have Internet so why didn't you have your Fiance work from your place?

So where is the ripoff other than your fianc stealing bandwidth for free? I'd suggest thinking about your upcoming marriage. How is he going to support his family when he cannot afford $19.99 a month for Internet access. Then question what is so important that he spends nights at a Safeway to play on his computer.... I'd ask him to leave too. Thats just creepy.

What would you consider a "VALID" reason to leave?

Spending hours in a chair and buying "something" everyday does not confer a right to take up that chair endlessly.

Here's a bit of a newsflash, the store can determine what is "VALID" when it comes to their property.  I would say the "other store" is a little lax in their policies.

Get a life.

There is NO Ripoff here.
