Sage Accounting Sage 50, Sage Group, Sage Peachtree Quantum, Sage Peachtree Premium Accounting for Manufacturing Critical Bug in Sage 50 Manufacturing and Quantum software Irvine California

Sage Peachtree Quantum accounting software (also their Manufacturing software) has a critical bug in its inventory module that fails to alert you when raw material stock (used in assemblies) falls below the reorder quantity.  Nor does it automatically reorder for you.  It often takes 6 to 8 weeks to bring in new raw material inventory.  Consequently, manufacturing companies like us can lose customers who expect quick delivery, e.g., in our case 3 days.

Every year for the last 10 years I have complained to Sage about this bug.  Each year I get the same response form them:  "Yes, we know about this bug, but we only have 50 companies who would need it fixed, so we are not going to fix it."  I respond that most manufacturing companies won't buy this software because of this critical bug, so Sage is probably loosing more than 50 potential manufacturing customers every year.  

I suspect the real reason they won't fix the bug is that they want us to switch to their highly complicated and expensive $30,000+ software.  I wouldn't mind thjis if they did not advertise that their Quantum (also their Manufacturing) software is designed for manufacturing companies, even though they know it has a critical bug.

Incidnetally, our programmers offered several times to fix this bug for them -- for free -- as it would be an easy fix.  Sage never responds to our offers.

Therefore, we highly recommend that manufacturing companies avoid this software.  We would not even give it one star.  Whe hope that magazines that review software, like PCWorld, will point out this bug in their reviews of this defective software.
