This has happened at least 6 times over the years during my relationship with Sallie Mae.  Instead of calling you, or sending you a letter requesting that you call them (either one of these methods would be the professional and courteous thing to do), they block my on-line access to my account for no apparent reason.  The message they give me is, "We're sorry, we're unable to process your request on-line.  Please call us...."  That's a bunch of crap.  I receive monthly emails from Sallie Mae encouraging me to sign on to my account to review and/or print my monthly statement and/or make a payment.  I'm pretty certain that I can't make an on-line payment unless I have access to my account.  I find that the tactics they use with customers are sneaky and underhanded.  Once I have paid off my loan, I will never, ever have anything to do with them again.  That includes all of my children when they attend college and are looking for finanacial aid.

Still waiting......

AUTHOR: Flyer001 - ()

Update:  Contacted the Office of the Customer Advocate on Friday, May 9th, regarding my grievances with Sallie Mae.  I received an email from Sallie Mae on May 13th.  The person who wrote to me said they "...are working to get you the answers you need.  You'll hear from us as soon as we have had time to research your account."  I wrote back to the same Sallie Mae person on May 16th, asking how long it takes to research the simple questions I posed to them.  I also asked when I should expect to receive a response.  I did not receive a response.  It is now June 2nd, almost a month after my initial request of May 9th, and still no additional response from Sallie Mae.  (Office of the Customer Advocate....Really?)

You made the claim...

AUTHOR: Robert - ()

You are the one who posted on a PUBLIC web site that they were blocking your access for "arbitrary" reasons.  So contrary to your assertion these "arbitrary" reasons are very relevent.

There is obviously a reason you are not posting these "arbitary" reasons.   But just because you say they are arbitrary doesn't make it so.  As said before it wasn't just to say "hi".  Perhaps you say they are arbitrary because if you mention those reasons it would not make you look so good..or at the very least show the lack of validity to your claims.

Really Robert?

Nice try Robert.  Who said I was having problems with my account?  My account has never been delinquent, never in default.  So, who said I was having problems with my account?  I said I could no longer sign on to get on-line access.  I also said this has happened at least 6 times in the past.  It's obvious to me this is SOP for Sorry Mae. The reason they do this is not relevant here.  The fact that they arbitrarily prevent you from accessing your account for no valid reason is the issue.  And, by the way, they've NEVER tried to call me.  How's that for a "gasp"?  Pay attention to what people are posting here instead of jumping to irrational conclusions in your feeble attempt to make Sorry Mae look good.  There are certainly enough posts here to make one wonder about the standards (or lack thereof) at Sorry Mae.  Where there's smoke, there's fire.

Wow...

AUTHOR: Robert - ()

You must be the one person in the world who thinks it is "professional" of a company to contact you by phone if you are having problems with your account.  Because you can read complaint after complaint from other deadbeats about how these companies(and Sallie Mae included) are calling them about when they are going to make a payment on their account.

So nice try but they are not blocking your account for an "arbitrary" reason are they.  They are not doing it to just say HI or What's Up.  They are doing it because you are most likely either delinquent or in default.  At the very least there is an issue that you need to take care of.  Perhaps they did try to call you and you *gasp* didn't want to answer, perhaps they don't have the right number.

By the way, just out of curiosity, when you did call them what did they give as the "arbitrary" reason?
