I got sick.  very very sick... and when i told this to Samsung... they said they understood, and appologized for the inconveinance... but i had to provide the original proof of purchase or they would not help me. at all!

I purchased a 3200 refridgerator from my local Lowes.

It is a Samsung.  looks really nice... has a digital read out of the temperature of the refridgerator and freezer right on teh door, and you can adjust the temperature right there... 1 degree at a time.

unfortunately it doesnt work.  my food spoiled three times in less than a year. I got deathly sick the third time.

each time i was told it was fixed... but it wasnt.  and it didnt stay cold enough, but worse than that the temperature on the door read correct.  and no one would know... and they will get very very very very sick!
I have never felt like i actually wanted to die before, or that i actually was going to... but that was close to the point ... well. moving on.

Samsung service-  said to me... they are sorry. and will provide an exchange !  IF I PROVIDE the proof of purchase first!!!!!!!

like i want another petri dish of a refridgerator in my house!!!

I am appaled!  i know the law! here in california we have a lemon law that goes beyond what these freaks of business are trying to pull...

and this is a health and safety issue!

AND THIS GREEDY CORPORATE PUKE! should not be allowed to sell any refridgerators in America! ever !

thank you for your veiw.

yes, i am an adult.

and, a reasonably intelligent person...

Sorry- i confussed this sites alotted characters with another site. perhaps the DCA's, or BBB's.

The temperature gauge on the door did not change. It stayed on 32 REF.  and 0 on the freezer... for the whole year of trouble.  until this last time. After the repairman came for the third time... i noticed after he left the temperature gauge started flashing 38... and it had never done that before - ever!  i unplugged the unit right away because the "flashing warning" was really annoying, and I do not understand why it didn't do that before! it was clearly way above 38 on each occaision- and it took a couple days after i noticed it to get the guy out, and even at really warm temps. it never flashed before. not once!

#1- food poisoning happens easier than your perspective appears to portray. and i truly hope you never have to go through what i did.

#2- As a consumer, i expect safety without having to double check and "take a temperature" of a brand new appliance that cost over 3000.00  - Same as if i visit a restaurant.. or grocery store... I trusted SAMSUNG, and I trusted the marketplace then, and I am trusting the marketplace now by telling my honest, truthful, experience. and expressing my dissatisfaction to anyone willing to listen, and as a honest heartfelt warning to others about what can happen with a lemon refrigerator, from any company, anytime, anywhere...

****I have no other reason to spend my time on this site, or even in my office right now.  it is Sunday, It is Springtime, I live in L.A. , there is a lot to do here, and the weather is beautiful outside! especially today!

#3- the "warm up occurred so slowly as to be unnoticeable until "it was too late". Coming home from a construction workers job (for 30+ years now) i am pretty darn tired, and Real Hungry.  A slight shift in temperature of the chicken i am cooking in hunger, is not as noticeable as you pretend... trust me!

#4 can you imagine finding out a year later - that your food was unsafe to eat, often! and that SAMSUNG knew it... and didn't even care... or tell you!

#5 I am not capable of spending just any amount necessary to eat... I am on a serious budget...I keep left over's until it is for sure not good to eat. I am not going to throw out food that SHOULD be good, and without SAMSUNG warning me... how would i know? I am not a refrigeration specialist-  they are! and they are profiting as such, and IMO- they should not be- not with this current management...

#6  I, and you too- know that that huge corporation... SAMSUNG, is enjoying the hard earned money I paid upon receipt for a lemon appliance.

#7 why didn't they even try to fix it, they lied each time they came out. IMHO- because they didn't tell me they didn't find or fix the leak they identified by seeing the freon pressure readings fluctuate every time they tested it... instead of trying to find and fix the freon leak... it was merely refilled with freon, and they knew that there was still a very tiny, unfound leak...

UPDATE- #2-

they said someone would call in 24 hours.  they didnt.

that is the 3rd time i was told this case was escalated due to my illness and that a specialist would contact me right away.  MORE LIES!

Lowes still has not sent my receipt. I have started shopping for a new refrigerator...at lowes and other places too,  And I am still drawn to the d*** SAMSUNGS...  they sure did do a good job of designing refrigerators... I have to give them that.

And to think, I just wanted a replacement unit before they asked for a receipt - for the second time!

AND Now: I can't buy SAMSUNG for anything ever again. And that stinks for me as a consumer!

Seems like you are still leaving a few things out

First of all I have no idea where you got the idea that you have only a certain amount of Characters, there are reports on here that would put War and Peace to shame for length.  The key is not how long your report is, but what you write.

Anyways, it is standard for a company to require proof of purchase.  If you "refuse" to keep receipts or manuals that is not the fault of any company and 100% on you for any inconvience that happens because of that.  As for the receipts that you say become unreadable before you even get them home.  Well yes if you crumple it up in your pocket, put it on your dash board, or just leave it out in the rain(you know Earth's everyday climate) of course it is going to become unreadable over time.  But let me ask you this, how do you treat legal documents?  Do you stick them in your pocket or just leave them lying around outside?

Now we get to the "food poisoning".  You are an adult right?  So as an adult what temperature did you set the refigerator section of the unit to?  50 degrees, 45 degrees, 40 degrees, 32 degrees, 20 degrees?  How about the freezer portion?

How do you know that the temperature on the door was incorrect?  Did you put in a separate thermometer to compare the two?  What was the reading on that one?

Then if the refigerator was not "holding temperature" how come you didn't notice it was warmer than it should have been?  The reason that is important because if it was warmer why did you even attempt to eat stuff that may be bad?  Especially if this would have been the 3rd time it happened?

Oh and FYI I live in CA as well and am a bit familar with the CA Lemon Law for Appliances.   You will find that a couple requirements of the Lemon Laws are that you must provide proof of purchase, and in most cases it requires the item to be fixed for the same thing at least FOUR times within that warranty period.

 i should be more clear.

i was only afforded so many characters to sum it up.

I got it in January 2013- the first "{warm up" occured within 6 or 10 weeks i think... but i think it took that long for the freon to escape... in hind site... and how much bad food did i consume? unknowingly riskjing a great deal as i am carnivorous and eat animals which i keep in the fridge, with milk, eggs, chees, and the like.

And, I already gave them the receipt the first time they came out...  I had to get it from lowes then too, but they had it at the store i go to, now it is at corporate, in storage.

**even then, they never located the leak, just put in freon, and left knowing there was a leak that had not been repaired, and somehow.. i assume, were hoping it wouldn't leak out again?

*it was registering on the equipment used to test it, that there was a leak from the very first time... there was a port installed, and freon added... that is all.  each time the man called samsung and told them about it... and then he shruged his shoulders, put in freon, and left.

Lowes has the receipt, and is sending it to me again... 48 hrs lead time i am informed.  better than nothing to be sure.

and fyi- In this day and age i refuse to store paper manuels, i like the computer better for those things anyway- and those peskey little paper receipts; as everyone knows, they are made to self destruct upon exposure to ... well, earths everyday climate!

I can hardly read one of those receipts from lowes after I pocket it just for for the trip home..

PS

latest UPDATE:

NOW- today on facebook, after i posted my experience thus far with samsung on their facebook page, i got a message that someone will call in 24 hours?

and if i want less money than i paid, i can take less now, but the offer is only for now. when the receipt comes in a day or so... i cant get the difference between their offer, and my purchase price. i was told only 1 refund can be processed??

OHHH - and now they say it will be up to 14 days to get the refund  ?processed?  What is processed?

are they harvesting the cash?

 NOT FAIR!

A few things here..

Just about EVERY manufacturer requires a DATED PROOF OF PURCHASE for warrany work.  This is NOT unusual.

You didn't say how long you've had this refrigerator.  If you got it from Lowes, is there a chance they have a record of the sale?  When purchasing expensive items like this, it's wise to staple the receipt to the owners manual and then file the manual where you can easily find it.

Samsung appears to be following the terms of their WRITTEN warranty.  This spells out the manufacturers responsibilities and for how long.

I understand your problem, but Samsung didn't lose the receipt...YOU did.

You mentioned "California lemon laws" IF they apply in your case, the also, likely have a time limit and guess what, you'd need a "proof of purchase."
