I received a call at my place of employment this morning indicating it was a courtesy call to let me know i was going to lose my drivers license and my wages were going to be garnished unless i paid 2169.00 today.  i indicated they better not do anything until i received notification of what i owed and to who.  Tom Wallace was the person on the phone and he indicated that i was being rude and he was just letting me know i was guilty of check fraud.

When i asked him to send me the documentation he indicated he would 'tell me' what i had done and proceeded to tell me that i had received a prepaid debit card for 500.00 ending in numbers 118 in February of this year - and that i supplied fraudulant information so that the debt could not be paid - therefore i was guilty of check fraud - however, i never received this debit card from 'cashadvance' and i have never received one piece of mail from them indicating i had an unpaid debt.

Mr Wallace indicated i could take care of this today and pay 260.00 and when i indicated i couldnt pay that he asked what i could pay - they have my personal information but the account number was wrong that he supplied to me - i didnt give them any money.  I called back and the person that answered the phone indicated she was answering an online switchboard call and that she couldnt tell me the name of the company without an extension.

When i supplied the extension she said it was Second Chance but she had no idea what kind of company it was.  This is a very elaborate scam i think - can someone verify this?  i never received the debit card but they have so much of my personal information it is scary - can they really garnish my wages or have my license revoked for a debt that they wont send information on?

This so called company sent a wage verification to my employer - fortunately i had already informed my employer and the wage verification was sent to me and not completed.  Why has nothing been done to stop these people?  I have read pages and pages of complaints - i do not understand how they get away with this?
