Where to begin:
I worked for this company for too long as one of their "roving officers". I got a new schedule every Thursday and was on call 24/7 so basically my schedule changed daily leading to never having a life.
None of the sites i went to, with one exception, would you do anything resembling security work. Mostly you just sat at a desk doing secretarial work and that was it.
On numerous occasions I was sent 2 hour drive away from home to work 12 hour shifts, only to have to come back 12 hours later, meaning little to know rest between shifts.
One of the worst was they started getting outside posts where you would be required to sit in your personal vehicle, overnight, in warehouse / industrial districts. Some of those nights were during the winter when temps would dip into single digits. And to stay warm you had to idle your vehicle and waste your gas. That was unsafe part number one.
Unsafe number two went hand in hand with the above, you had to sit there overnight and you could not have anything with you to protect yourself if anything happened.
More B.S occurs when you talk to the people who are supposedly in charge. There are sites where you have to record information from trucks onto a log, I couldn’t read the seals well in the dark, and told the scheduling manager, he told me “if you can’t see it just write down a random number it doesn’t matter anyway”. ß Wow
This company is just plain wrong, they don’t care about any of their workers, and they pay horridly.
Last thing, this happened during my “training” for the guard card the guy conducting the training said something along the lines of “we know that most of you won’t be here a year from now, and that’s fine. You’re all replaceable”. I should have left then but I was stupid and desperate for a job.
If your truly wanting to get security experience, go with any other company. At least they give you some means of protecting yourself if the need ever arises.
Securitas = A JOKE
