I will keep this brief, but I had an interview setup with this company. I heard a phone call back two days later after filling the application out. The HR lady told me to come in on X day at X time. I agreed and that was that. Well when I went in today to speak with her, not only did she come late into work keeping myself and someone else there for an interview for over an hour! But she walked in and said hi in the lowest tone and manner and didnt seem to care that she was late and you could tell she was wayyyy to comfortable with her job (She knew she couldn't get fired and was going to act how she wanted it seemed). She immediately said, oh your so and so correct? I said yes, and then she said, O well you need to reschedule an interview do to your lack of professional dressed attire. I was wear sneakers, good/clean jean, tucked in nice, blue polo and my short combed hair. I might not have been dressed for corporate, but didnt think I needed to seeing they provided uniforms anyways and have been on many other interviews and never had complaints with my style of dress. She told me, nice shoes, dress shirt and pants and tie is optional. Well that would have been fine for me if someone had TOLD ME! No one told me at all and thought maybe I misread something somewhere. I double checked and not in one place did I find anywhere it said "Please show up in this attire." So I feel that this was completely rude, un professional, and the company discriminates a person even before they can explain themselves. Pft...What a joke and I am glad I found this out now before I wasted my time. Do not recommend this place for working AT ALL!!

Well you are almost right this time Joe.  It is a new form of discrimination against people who don't know how to dress for an interview.

It is not up to the company to tell you what the dress code for the interview is.  It is up to you to verify it with them.  That means if you have any questions you MUST contact them before the interview.

However, you can never go wrong by "dressing up", so when ever you go in for an interview always figure you need to dress professionally.  For guys, this means a nice pair of dress pants, button down shirt, nice shoes.  If this is an "office" job you generally want to wear a suit and tie as well.  For other types of jobs this is optional, but wouldn't hurt.  Oh, and before you ask.  Jeans and Sneakers is not Professional Attire.

If you get the job if the Company has a lower dress code you can always "dress down" later.  But during the interview process is NOT the time to do this.

There was a time that there were so few people looking for these types of jobs if you had the qualifications you could have walked in with shorts and a t-shirt and gotten the job.  But because there are so many people applying for so few jobs, you have to set yourself apart.  Because I will tell you regardless of what the company "dress code" is.  If two people come in with the exact same qualifications and experience.  Once is in "Business Attire" and one who is more casual.  The one in Business Attire is going to get the job 99% of the time.  Why?  Because if they take a casual attitude with their attire, they probably will have that same attitude with the job.

THIS DOES SEEM LIKE A NEW FORM OF EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH BUSINESS CASUAL WHICH IS CLEAN POLO SHIRT, NICE JEAMS AND DESIGNER ATHLETIC SHOES -- ALL CLEAN AND SHARP-LOOKING AND NO MATTER WHAT YOUR RACE OR GENDER IS, MOST SECURITY COMPANIES LIKE FOR YOU TO HAVE SHORT HAIR SO THAT IT DOES NOT TOUCH YOUR COLLAR.

I HAVE NO IDEA IF YOU ARE AFRICAN AMERICAN OR MALE OR FEMALE OR WHITE OR NATIVE AMERICAN LIKE ME.

I THINK THIS WOMAN WAS BEING DISCRIMINATORY AGAINST WHATEVER ETHNICITY, AGE AND GENDER YOU ARE AND WAS USING DRESS AS AN EXCUSE.

FOR WHAT THEY WANT TO PAY YOU AND THEY WANT SOMEONE IN A PIN-STRIPE THREE PIECE DESIGNER SUIT? WITH A MONOGRAMMED SHIRT AND TIE AND WHERE THEY WILL BE POSTING YOU, THE JANITOR WILL MAKE MORE THAN YOU WILL!
