Rich Severns installed my brand new AC system in my home incorrectly causing it to eventually become inoperable. I am a Temecula resident and this is my story of a lovely sarcasm experience with Rich Severns and his bootleg Air Conditioning company. I declare under penalty of perjury that the foregoing is true and correct. Executed on 07/08/2014. My wife and I and our four children moved into our new home that Severns AC, contracted by Ma Williams, installed our brand new AC unit. Because of finances we did not use it much in the several years to come, only during extreme heat as we live in Temecula and sometimes need to get out of the sun. Over the course of a few years, when we used it we noticed the AC was not cooling as it did the first year, in fact in June of 2014 it wouldn’t cool at all and my family was suffering from the heat.

I am a mechanic, worked on motorcycles most of my life as a hobby, I understand how to fix things so after inspecting the system it was obvious that all of the refrigerant had leaked out over time. To confirm my suspicion, I contacted more than three other HVAC professionals (while waiting for a returned phone call from Rich Severns) and all of them sang the same tune "It was a bad install." Apparently, in AC tech lingo this means that the person who installed the system did a poor job and one of the joints that he soldered was leaking and all the refrigerant leaks out over time and then it no longer cools (which is exactly what happend).

Finally, I received an email from someone there at Severns and I explained the situation and that I needed him to please come and fix his mistake. To make a long story short, Rich Severns told me that the refrigerant was expensive ($500 or so) and the warranty was only one year and I should call someone else to fix it despite my plea that I would pay his bill if something else were wrong. Well here I am. Still no AC, the temperatures are horrific and intolerable, two nights ago it was almost 100 degrees in the house at 9:00pm with all the doors open. I can deal with a lot of stuff but this is ridiculous notwithstanding that ANY person that would put someones family and children through this, intentionally, is just a BAD person, plain and simple.

I hope that this story touches some of you in internet land that may have been considering him to do your work and you decide to give your business to someone else. He obviously does not care enough about his work to fix his own mistakes, he will sit back in his nice cool house and tell you to PAY someone else to repair it and he seems to have more than enough work because he does not give a darn about his clients or he would attempt to make good on his poor quality work. I don't care about ALL the good reviews here, one bad one like this will leave you wondering if you will end up in the same situation. Don't gamble with Severns, call someone else. We don't have the $600 - $700 that I have been quoted to fix Rich Severns mistake, so here we sit, enduring this bad weather sweaty and miserable because of Mr Rich Severns and his refusal to guarantee his work.

I would like to offer Rich Severns and his Wife my deepest thanks possible.  Rich came out, on his day off and repaired my Air Condition in minutes.  My Air Conditioning went out early this year and I pointed a finger at him for installing it incorrectly.  The issue had nothing to do with his work.  He came out and helped me even though the warranty had expired long ago.  The problem was a bad capacitor.  I was rude to him and his wife and I sincerely apologize for that.  This company, this man, has an outstanding reputation for a reason, because he is the best at what he does.  If you are looking for an HVAC person, look no further Rich is your guy!  NOTE:  Rich, I am sorry this cannot be removed but hopefully this will clarify to anyone that reads this that it was my mistake, not yours.  Unfortunatley I cautioned you about this in my correspondence with you prior to your arrival.

I can understand a contractor making a mistake on his work.  I can understand poor customer service and not returning phono calls.  I can even kind of understang a contractor not standing behind his work.  BUT...I cannot stand a LIAR.  Lying shows poor moral charechter and a propensitity to cheat which is exactly what I am dealing with.  

The facts are that Rich Severns DID install this system.  PHONE CALL 07/11/2014 09:28am to MaWillams (the contractors who installed my house):  Marie:  "Yes, we did use Rich Severns to install that system but we do not use him anymore."  Call and verify if you like 951/325/4713  mawilliamshomes.com.  Also please see the photo attached with the sticker for Severns Air Conditioning and Heating.  This was taken right from my AC unit.  He was right about one thing.  I personally have never met him because I did not contract him.  I was done through a General Contractor that Ma Williams uses for installing these houses.

I must say that my luck is just fine notwithstanding that I have to deal with a pathological liar that is trying to save face afret ripping people off.  I have money, I don't have a spare $700 to fix Severns mistake.  Oh and for the record.  He does not have a 5 star Yelp review (another thing that he is lying about).  Here is the link:  yelp.com/biz/murrieta-air-conditioning-murrieta?hrid=90mUtONt7OV5t4cF7EFtnw#src:self  It is 4.5 stars and in 30 years of service that he so brags about only 13 reviews.  Oh and one of those is him reviewing himself.

I have never met this person. He is down on his luck and doesn't have any money. He was nasty and threatened us. We don't respond to threats ever. Our CUSTOMERS have given us a 5 star rating on yelp. This is slander. He blasts businesses for phone calls that didn't go his way.
