I contacted Simplexity via Facebook to discuss a possible issue with my "contract" with them. I bought an HTC One M7 from the Newegg.com website. Trusting Newegg I thought I'd had a great deal from one of my favorite e-tailers. I was wrong.

I recently moved to Colorado from Maine. Within a week my apartment was broken into. My debit card, credit card, tablets and other belongings were stolen. My accounts were exploited and I was down and out. I contacted my carrier to discuss what had happened and decided that suspending my cell phone account was the best way to keep myself from avoiding late fees and possible disconnection fees.

I was trying to stablize my financial situation after being robbed.

Later, I was looking through my paperwork regarding my cell phone purchase to try to see if there was a way to switch carriers and save some money - you know since I'd just been robbed of every dollar I had and I didn't know if or when I'd get it back.

Upon looking through the paperwork I noticed there was a clause in the purchase agreement from Simplexity. A glaring look into the MASSIVE scam that Simplexity is running. It's almost so unethical it should be illegal. I found out that if I changed my services in pretty much any way I'd owe Simplexity $400. Why? Because Sprint wouldn't pay them a commission due to my changes.

I contacted Simplexity via Facebook immediatly, here is the transcript :

Me : So is your company going to rape me in the ___ for suspending my line with Sprint because of situations out of my control?

SimplexityI am sorry to hear that you are having problems and had to suspend your account with Sprint. We have located your order and the carrier has not reported a deactivation to us, though it is possible we have already lost our commission on your order. If we get the notification from the carrier, we will notify you and you can make payment arrangements with our collections department to pay your instant savings discount with us. Please let us know if there is anything else that we can do to be of assistance to you. -Kim

Me: Not a problem, hopefully they dont do that. I was robbed, and the thieves stole a ton of stuff so I couldnt pay my bill and the bills were going to add up. So , I suspended the line for now so I didnt get into a bad situation. Hopefully Simplexity can throw me a bone here because it's not my fault. I just ordered a replacement phone and I'll be reactivating my service tomorrow.

Oh, the took my debit and credit cards and drained my accounts/maxed out the credit card. My bank is USAA, I'm a veteran, and they don't have branches.

If it comes down to it I have a case number from the Fort Collins police department

Hopefully it doesnt come to that, and my line has only been suspended for a few days while I waited for a new debit card to arrive.

It would be extremely bad if I ended up owing your company $400 for getting robbed

They robbed me the day before my sprint bill was due, and now it's time for another billing cycle so I'd be pretty far in the hole if I were to have not suspended the line. Thank you for your help! Hopefully things dont get even worse for me. I already have to replace a car and two tablets because they were stolen and destroyed.

Simplexity : I am very sorry to hear that this has happened to you. I am sure under the circumstances the carrier will not report a deactivation to us. Good luck with this and let me know if there is anything else that I can do to be of assistance to you. -Kim

So here we have a company clearly going to go about business as usual, even though the situation was beyond my control.

I hope Newegg breaks the partnership with Simplexity. A lot of Newegg customers would be appauled that they are doing business with a skieevy company.

Response from Wirefly/Simplexity

AUTHOR: wirefly_kim - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, October 01, 2013

Again, I am sorry for the experience you have had.  It is a terrible loss to be robbed, however I would like to address your concerns again.  I never said that you would be charged the Instant Savings Discount.  When I responded to your first post, I did not realize that you had been through this and I did provide you with the correct answer and steps that Wirefly/Simplexity will take.

Your order has been noted that your phone was stolen and service suspended by the carrier.  That was done so that if the carrier does take away our commission, we have it noted and can use it to dispute the loss of commission with the carrier.  I also made sure your order was noted so that if the Instant Savings Discount was charged, we would be able to work with you.  In light of the fact that the carrier suspended the service for the reason of theft, they are unlikely to remove our commission from this order and there is nothing to worry about.  I am sorry that you feel we would not work with you, as that is the farthest thing from the truth.

If you have any further issues or questions, please let us know directly and we will be happy to assist you.
