I received a gift certificate for Sir Spa, after 6-months the owners decided to nullify all outstanding gift certificates, accepting only 50% of the face value. I argued with the staff, but the attitude was "tough luck, take it or leave it"!
I went ahead & used the remainder of my certificate and the place was a disappointment: filthy carpeting, mildew in showers, tattered robes.
There are Quality spas all over Chicago - skip this one!

SIR Spa sold on April 1, 2011

We understand that this is an unfortunate situation, but SIR Spa was sold to a new owner on April 1, 2011. Due to the terms of sale, we are no longer able to redeem any gift certificates purchased prior to April 1, 2011 in full value.
This is understandably a frustrating situation so we did accept these 'expired' gift certificates for 6 months after the sale took place, and then we attempted to contact our client base via email to alert them that we would only be able to redeem them at full value for an additional 30 days, after which they would only be redeemable for 50% of the face value.
Obviously there were numerous customers holding gift certificates whose email addresses were not in our computer system and were not notified.
