While browsing their website I discovered that this shop is claiming to be a professional tattoo and piercing school, they are charging $5,200 for a 2 week tattoo course and $1,600 for a 3 day piercing class. This shop is not an O.S.H.A. certified establishment, and in my opinion, based on the work pictured on their website, the individuals working there haven't any business teaching. If anything they could benefit from an actual formal apprenticeship themselves.

In my 7+ years in the tattoo and piercing industry I have learned that, like any skilled trade, body art can be a very rewarding and prosperous career when taken seriously. Any well respected professional will tell you that the only way to properly learn how to safely and properly conduct work in a tattoo and piercing parlor is a formal apprenticeship under a professional artist for at least 1 year.

Unexperianced people with their hearts in the right place can easily be duped into paying an exorbitant fee for a crash course and a certificate. When they attempt to find work in this industry they will find they are evaluated by the time they have invested in their craft, the quality of artwork in their personal portfolio, and above all, the recommendations from artists they were trained by and have worked alongside.

Upon looking at the website, I have to COMPLETELY agree with the report. Clicking on the thumbnails and actually looking at the tattoos made me sad for the people that you have all tattooed on. ALL 4 of the artists exhibit bad linework. The worst though, was 'Big Poppa'. Some of his looks like a child could have done them. In addition, the coloring in of the tattoos was atrocious. There were spots that were missing ink and spots that had sparse ink. I  can guarantee you that a good portion of those that were tattooed by those 4, later regretted them, and had them reworked, sadly.
As to the piercings: i feel horrible for the girl with the corset done; it looks like she was stabbed in random spots on her back, and then tied together. The nostril piercing looks too low...

" Look at line quality and smoothness of blends of color. These photos are the best way to determine if a tattoo artist is worth what you pay them or is capable of the style you seek. Please don't gamble with your skin. A cheap tattoo now may cost you hundreds of dollars to fix later or even worse, may cost you your health."

UGGGHHHH

Seriously? Anonymous Artist.

You have been tattooing for seven years and are truly afraid to post your name on this website. Must take a lot of guts to run other tattoo artists down when you remain anonymous. First off, if you truly read the school website you would have an understanding that we do not guarantee you will be a seasoned tattoo artist in two weeks. We guarantee you will be able to apply a tattoo in a safe manner. Artistic ability will of course make you a better artist. Our goal at Skin City Ink Tattoo School is to help stop home scratchers that have no idea of tattoo safety concerns. You are right on one point, tattooing is a learned art form and you do need to continue your education. Anonymous Artist, do you mind sending a link to your portfolio so we can all see just how good you really are? I sure hope you are not afraid to do this.

By your own admission, you have declared a competitor a ripoff simply based on some pictures you saw on his website?

"Any well respected professional..."

I hope you're not implying that you are such a professional.   I'm not in the ink business, but most respected professionals that I know wouldn't stoop that low to put one over on their competition.
