 This kind of drama is commonplace in the world of rescue...someone pisses someone off so they set out to ruin them. Childish and in the long run its the dogs were saving that suffer.  Kyle Schwab and Smashface have saved hundreds of dogs that no one else would touch! I'm talking about poorly socuialized to abused mastiffs and bullies that are downright agressive. He has given his life up to rehabilitating these animals, many who never become adoptable and have earned a permanent home with Kyle.

Every rescue out there has, for one reason or another, paid for a rescue dog/puppy. Sometimes these puppies are being sold on street corners, the boardwalk in parking lots. Sometimes theyre being sold as newborns for money and would not survive in the hands of an inexperienced bottle rearer. If puppies are being given away or sold underage they are prime targets for novelty buyers or serial puppy owners. Kyle taking in these dogs, feeding them and raising them, getting them vaccinated, vetted, microchipped, fixed then finding loving forever homes is part of the service he provides. Many of the puppies are too young to fix at the time of placement, but adopter in contractually bound to provide proof by 4-6 months of age

Kyle has no life outside of the dogs he saves. He is not married, has no kids, doesn't really leave the house other than to save an animal, visit the vet, shelters or buy food. To think he should be doing this with no compensation is ridiculous. He is far from rich, he gave up a sucessful career as a small businees owner to SAVE dogs and clean up the mess made by so many irresponsible people. At this moment he has a Neo in intensive care who despite top vet care and unlimited budget, may not make it. She's been in the hospital for 2 days and her bill is already close to $3,000. 

Back in 2010, I contacted Smashface after visiting PetFinders.  Kyle had two Shih Tzu mixes (puppies) up for adoption.  I fell in love with the puppies and Smashface called me back to come in to see the pups.  At that time, we were living in Redondo Beach and were planning to move to our new home in West Hawthorne soon.

As soon as Smashface called me, I was out the door and on my way to Van Nuys.  Kyle greeted me at the door.   Kyle asked me questions and I had no problem offering up my own questions.  I melted when I picked up Lorenzo.  I had to have this puppy because this was what I was looking for.

I can't recall how much I paid for Lorenzo and it did not matter to me.  I filled out the paperwork, Kyle put a chip in Lorenzo and gave him a vaccine before we departed.  I agreed to get Lorenzo altered and about 2 hrs later we were out the door headed back to Redondo Beach.

I think Kyle trusted his instincts on me and could tell my husband and I would make a loving home for Lorenzo. As far as where he got the puppies, I have no idea.  There were only two.    I just knew this little guy needed a home.  

The majority of the dogs that Kyle had in his possession were bully breeds.  He had rescued a dog that had been shot by cops.  I had no reason NOT to believe his story.  I came away from Smashface with a great respect for Kyle and the work that he does for bully breeds etc.

We took Lorenzo straight to our vet, Christine Hutson.  He was in perfect condition.  We renamed Lorenzo and his new name is Max.  We have had Max for over three years now and this dog is smart as a whip, loves people and other animals.  We have two cats as well

Our Max needed a home - with a loving family and that is exactly what he got.  Thanks to Smashface we have the sweetest dog and I feel Kyle does not deserve all this drama.  I would adopt from him again in a heartbeat.

I was WRONG.  When I wrote my orginal rebuttal to the report filed against Smashface I did not know the truth and I believed the lies I was told. IT turns out that he is buying puppies from a person he calls his "supplier" a practice he calls "pimping puppies"   Other people who also wrote support letters told me after the fact things like "you know he's doing it" - i was shocked. 

Shortly after I discovered more disturbing things about this so called rescue. He has now gone on a full attack of me for exposing him. But the truth is the truth.  No matter what his original intention was in rescue 20 years ago, today this is not a rescue that helps dogs. It is a way for Kyle Schwab to try to make money.  

I am saddened that I ever helped or publically supported him. I wish there was a way to remove my earlier comment, but there is not to my knowledge.  More than that I am shocked by the many people in the Los Angeles rescue community who continue to support him even though they know the truth. Perhaps they are afraid their rescue practices are the ones that will come under scruitiny next. 

 

 

I have adopted three dogs from Smashface Rescue over the past three years, and Kyle is an absolute saint to these neglected and abandoned animals.  He takes in the dogs that no one wants, because they are too old, or have been so neglected and abused that others are not willing to take on these poor souls.  Through no fault of their own, these dogs are dumped at shelters, not knowing that their days are numbered.  Kyle steps up to the plate every single time, without hesitation to save another life.  He rehabilitates these dogs and finds them what they have never had, or have not had for far too long- loving homes- giving them a new lease on life.  Each of these dogs has has a story- neglect, abuse, used as bait, and Kyle is their savior, a true knight in shining armor.  Anyone who says otherwise, is simply uneducated, misinformed, or riding on bandwagon with no knowledge of what his work entails.  Without Smashface I would not have my three best best friends.  One, a twelve year old that a breeder dumped on him, another from Lancaster that was beaten, then bred, and no longer of any use to the sick breeder that dumped her at the shelter.  My latest rescue came to him with several botched eye surgeries, skin infections, and much more.  Where would these dogs be today without Kyle? Moreover, Kyle is a lesson in humility and kindness.  His love for these animals is beyond compare.  He is the finest example of the type of human being each and everyone of us should strive to be in our everyday lives.

With that said, it is unfortunate when a disgruntled employee feels the need to bash their former employer on the internet -as an anonymous user no less- because she was fired for poor job performance.  Rather than post her identity as a real woman would, she chooses to use the internet as a safe haven for her defamatory commentary, all of which is a complete and utter lie. Indeed, the fact that she felt the need to post this rubbish, is proof positive of the type of human being she is- a coward.  Her accusations are baseless and unfounded. Smashface Rescue is one of the only rescues that actually saves hundreds of lives, pulls the dogs that are in the most deplorable conditions known to man.  Kyle rehabilitates these poor victims of our society, and finds them loving homes, giving them a chance to be treated as they should be, with love and respect. 
Kyle, you are an inspiration to all those around you, and I thank you for bringing me such joy into my life with your hard work, dedication, and love for these animals.

I know there are many more of you out there that feel the same way I do.  I urge you to share your remarkable stories and happy endings.

I have rescued and fostered a handful of dogs who would have otherwise been put to sleep had it not been for Smashface. It seems to me that any dog be it big, small, fluffy, hairless, old or young deserves to be saved from a neglectful home. I think that it is realistic to say that a small dog finds a home quicker than a large one. It is not hard to scour the shelter and find purebred adoptable dogs who then need a home. To make these accusations saying he is a puppy mill or backyard breeder is ignorant, if you stroll through your local shelter you will see the same dogs behind bars. To publish this article is only hurting the animals who need homes.

To whoever wrote this: I would be shocked to hear of you being an honest or honorable person let alone a rescuer. The amount of spite and revenge it takes to draw up such imaginative lies is disgusting. Being a rescuer myself I acknowledge and respect kyle for all that he sacrifices on a DAILY basis just to provide shelter for any animal big or small. Hell, I've seen him rescue everything from dogs to birds to squirrels. This posting is as far from the truth as can be.

The accusations made in the ripoff report regarding Kyle Schwab and his dog rescue Smashface Rescue is all lies.  There is no other way to say it: these are false allegations. Untruths. Misleading statements made for the sole purpose of making him look bad. 

Kyle has dedicated his entire adult life, his resources, his time, and his energy in to rescuing dogs: and not just any dogs.  Kyle rescues the dogs that no one else wants, or will attempt to rescue.  He rescues the most aggressive, the meanest, the "bully" breeds.  He seeks out the dogs with the injuries, illnesses and pasts so awful, that the shelter staff often determine the dogs should be put to sleep.  And them Kyle rescues them. The dogs that so aggressive that the shelter staff will not go near their kennels. He rehabilitates those. The ones with broken legs, and broken souls; the ones starved and forced to fight by their former owners: He pulls them from deaths door -  in the city and county shelters - and he gives them a place to call home, food, love, and training. All of which equate to a chance for a future.

So how do I know all of this is the TRUTH?  Well,

• First I am at Smashface on average once a week helping Kyle with the dogs, visiting with the dogs, so I have first hand knowledge of his facility and the work he is doing.  



• Secondly, I talk to Kyle daily as I help him with the administration of his FB page, which allows me to see the kinds of  emails he receives from former adopters who want to thank him and give updates, pet owners who need help training and the rescue community who call on Kyle when there is a mastiff or other bully breed that no one else can handle or will attempt.  



• Thirdly, I have also had the benefit of Kyle's training expertise with my personal dogs. He was able to rehabilitate a dog that other trainers would not take on, and that one trainer actually said to put to sleep. But with Kyle's training and rehabilitation she is now a different dog. 

Smashface may focus on Bully Breeds but it does not discriminate against any breed or age dog. Puppies included. Puppies are found as strays, left at the shelters and pulled by all rescues and adopted out.  To suggest that doing so is unethical is an attempt to dupe the public in to thinking there is something evil going on.  Puppies are also killed in shelters every day because no one goes to adopt them. They are no less deserving of rescue. People also give Kyle dogs, I've known people to bring dogs to Kyle's home and leave them, contact him to pick up their dogs and if he does not, the next stop will be the shelter. A person even tied a dog to his RV this summer and left it there. 

Here is what is true: Kyle Schwab is not running a puppy mill, he is not releasing puppies unaltered unless age or illness prevents them from being spayed or neutered. He IS rescuing dogs and when he can, when they are able, he re-homes them.  I for one am grateful that he does.

The report on Kyle and Smashface was clearly written by someone with a grudge, someone that wanted to make him look bad. The strange thing is I've never met or heard of anyone who has adopted a dog from him that has anything bad to say.  And I've never met a rescuer that didn't respect his work and trust his integrity.  So that makes me question the integrity of the person who posted this report.

• If they were really upset wouldn't they post it with their name on it? 



• Wouldn't we be able to check facts with them? 



• Wouldn't there be real documented information and not merely innuendo and ambiguous accusations?

The problem with sites like ripoff is there is no accountability  anyone can say anything and it becomes part of the internet record. Without accountability and fact checking, the potential for harm to the reputations of good, honest, hard-working people, like Kyle Schwab, far outweighs any benefit to the consumer.

And one more thing - Im not sure quite sure the purpose of the RIPOFF report.  It is an unsupervised forum for any jerk with a grudge to tarnish the name of a local and reputable business.  RIPOFF allows - in fact - encourages the posting of unsubstantiated information for all to see without the slightest concern to whether or not this information is true.  
For example:
I could say the RIPOFF report stole, and proceeded to eat my dirty gym shorts after algebra class.  The RIPOFF report would then proceed to post this information and would have no recourse to get that comment removed.  
A truly concerned and educated person would take their concerns to an organization like the Better Business Bureau.  At the BBB there is a mediator who will interview both sides, try to determine what actually happened and then attempt a resolution.
Sounds like the RIPOFF report is just a RIPOFF!!

This "complaint" is the most vile and unfair form of attempted character defamation. I have had multiple experiences with Kyle and smashface rescue and have adopted multiple formerly troubled dogs. I say formerly troubled because after he rescued them his love, caring, training and rehabilitation, transformed these dogs into the most loyal, happy and loving companions anyone could ask for. I have been to his facility and have seen his compassion in person and I am so impressed with the work he does. In fact I travel from several states away to adopt dogs from Kyle. I have never met anyone who loves animals more than Kyle and cannot imagine anyone has sacrificed more for the well being of any and all dogs. This complaint is complete and utter nonsense. Shame on the person who posted this......the damage she is trying to inflict, if successful would only harm the helpless animals he saves.........the world needs more Kyle Schwabs.

This article is a total scam from a very mentally ill person trying to destroy a reputation.  I have had many first hand experiences with Kyle and his organization.  He is anything BUT selling puppies from mills.  He is actually taking his time and money rehabilitating and placing many dogs that would otherwise be killed. 

The person who filed this report seems to be more focused on causing harm than being a force for good. Aside from submitting it anonymously, they fail to mention the hundreds of beat up, mangy, abused and downright aggressive mastiffs and bully breeds that Kyle has taken in from shelters, other rescues and owner surrenders.  He has spent thousands of his own dollars to fix up these dogs medically and find them great homes.  He is considered the 'go-to' guy for mastiffs that nobody else wants touch.  Literally. Shelters will often call him when they're unwilling to even go near a dog. More often than not, these dogs are just scared and with a little time and love, they trust again.  Without Kyle, many of these amazing dogs would be dead.  I hardly think the person who wrote this would be willing - and certainly not able - to fill his shoes.

One of the greatest moments in my life was rescuing an Adult dog from Kyle/ Smashface rescue. he is not a scam artist, in fact he has helped me with another one of my rescues that i didnt even get from him. this man truly has a heart gold. When i was his facility i saw absolutely no puppies. the only thing animals that were there were adults. He has been nothing but honest since I've met him and will continue to not only associate with him but fully and whole heartily support his cause. 

I am not sure how this person can post something that is a complete lie about kyle. You should be ashamed of yourself! Kyle lives to help the dogs and he is one of the best at what he does. RIPOFF REPORT! You should be ashamed to have let the this lier scammer post a bunch of lies about kyle. kyle is amazing his love and kindness is endless . Keep up the great work that you do Kyle. I am a dog trainer for power breeds for the last five years. Kyle Schwab is not only a mentor to me in the aggression training area for bully breeds but also a friend. Kyle is not only unique in his training when dealing with aggression for cases that most trainers will not even deal with but always shows compassion for the dogs he trains, rehabs and puts back into society.
He has a very good heart to rescue dogs who need major medical care and turns them around all in saving lifes for dogs whose previous owners neglected.

 As a dog trainer for these powerful breeds I can tell you first hand this work can be dangerous and is very physically and mentally demanding 7 days per week 14 plus hours per day.
There are very few top trainers in California who can handle these types of agressive dogs and rehab them SO to allow this type of report to be filed and ruin the lifelihood and passion Kyle has for helping save these dogs is completley wrong.
You need to investigate and question the person who filed the report and do Kyle the honor of re-establisihing his reputation back thru apologies and removal of this type of damaging claims. 
It hurts a very great trainer and even more will hurt countless rescue dogs out there WHO NEED Kyle's professional guidance.

Kyle has helped me with many dogs that needed professional evaluations and training.  Kyle is a talented, caring and compassionate person who truly loves dogs and has devoted his life to saving them and helping their owners as well.  Bottom line - SMASHFACE RESCUE SAVES DOGS.

i have bin to the house and many times for long periods of time and the dogs are by far treated well sir. Zeke is only one story of many that i know of and he is the best doggie i have ever had. ALL that he was through Kyle did a very good job of screening me i know i work over seas  building bomb shelters and shelter for kids in in many places all that matters in doing STUFF LIKE THIS IS THAT YOUR HEART IS IN THE RIGHT PLACE

I first met Kyle Schwab of Smashface Rescue when I was volunteering at the South LA Animal Shelter. Kyle stepped in when a dog I was networking, who had been used as bait in dog fights and then dumped in a park, had been brought into the shelter.Zekes face was so swollen his breathing was inhibited and the shelter warned me that the chance he would make it through the night to even have an opportunity of rescue was slim. Smashface Rescue pulled Zeke through the LAAS Good Samaritan Program the moment the shelter opened in the morning and rushed him to a vet to get the care he needed.

Very few rescues will take on the hard cases, abused, neglected, those that need expensive medical attention and those that even after all is said and done will be harder to place because they are not the cute, fluffy puppies that are easy to rescue and then immediately adopt out. I have watched Kyle personally tap into his own resources, selling off his property and sacrificing all he could for the well-being of those dogs that most rescues wont ever get near.

It is unfortunate that someone felt the need to slander his name and rescue efforts so publically.
Anyone who takes the time to speak to Kyle or visit the Smashface Rescue facility will find that the comments left here can be nothing further from the truth. Kyle provides a welcoming no-bark environment where the dogs are provided excellent medical care, regular exercise, the personal socialization and rehabilitation that they need and a chance at a new life with someone who truly understands and empathizes with the world of bully breeds.
