My band signed a deal with SMG Global Network after they approached us with the opportunity to have our music distributed across a wider audience than we already had.
They were initially very responsive, and one of our members had regular phone contact with either Rod B. Gutta or the "President", Wayne "Nation" Roper.
After receiving the signed contract and a $298 cataloguing fee (which was not disclosed prior to the contract), SMG provided us with a July release date for our album. After this point, there was virtually no communication. The release date came with no contact and, more importantly, distribution. We were able to contact them the next day to ask what the issue was and Rod told us he was looking into it. Since that point, nobody at SMG has returned any of our calls or emails. We followed up by sending them written notification that we were terminating our contract, and there was no response to that either.
We submitted a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and, not surprisingly, SMG did not respond to any of their correspondence either. I checked a few minutes ago before writing this report and SMG's website appears to be gone now as well.
I was very surprised to see that someone that posted on this site actually had some of their music released through SMG. In my experience, they showed to be a total scam.
