Southern Resources Charged me a pick-up charge when it was never mentioned in our conversations. Charlotte North Carolina

Another business I know hired Southern Resources of Charlotte, NC to pick up their fitness equipment when buying new equipment, and recommended them to me because they would come and pick them up for you. I spoke with Southern Resources the day they picked up theirs, and they agreed to pick up mine. They contacted me the next day for a pick-up time, and I told them I was going to take mine a couple miles down the road because they were going to give me a better price. They agreed to match that price and could even come pick it up at that price. I agreed because I was very busy. About 30 days later, I received a check for only $25. I called the other club, and they had gotten around $150. I called Southern Resources to see what the difference was since it was the same amount of equipment. The employeed had failed to tell me or didn't know about a pick up charge, and they had forgotten to charge the other club and tell them also, and was not going to make the same mistake twice. The check was not itemized with how many pounds they picked up or what the delivery charge was. I made repeated calls to them, and they would not call me back to discuss it. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they agreed with my complaint. Southern Resources wrote back in their own words:

"Southern Resources made a mistake and never duducted the $100/hr pick-up fee from the other location to which she is referring, & her claim is that we are now required to make the same mistake twice. Her counterpart was over paid $100. Southern resources, while realizing our mistake, never sought indemnification for the overpayment. Her menacing demands that we should now over pay her by $100, also has been difficult to deal with professionally. She received prompt arrival, hand labor, couteous service & was paid in full & well over the market. It is disappointing that she has taken this stance.

Her incessant calls, many threats & this BBB complaint are an attempt to bully Southern Resources into paying her something she is not morally, ethically, nor legally owed. Her persistance does not alter the facts nor Southern Resources's adherance to honor."

When an employee makes a mistake, it should not be charged to the customer. I am still owed at least $125. I would never have hired them had there been a pick-up charge because we had a trailer on site and lots of help to have loaded up the equipment (which my husband helped Southern Resources do while they were there.) They would not talk with me, ignored my calls (Caller ID) and would not call me back. I also feel I was taken advantage because I am female. I would hate to think that any Company could tack on charges without the customer's knowledge. Can you image all the Companys out there that would take advantage of "We forgot to tell you about this charge" and were able to get by with it? Shame on them! They say I was not legally owed? Was it legal to charge me a pick-up charge without disclosing this charge to me? $125 is a lot of money for my small company to lose. And yes, I feel I am legally owed this.
