Southwest Airlines Epic communication failure resulting in additional money spent to fly Philadelphia Pennsylvania

My daughter is 16 years old and was scheduled to fly on Southwest on 23 Jul 2016 at 720am.  My husband (a disabled Army Veteran) drove 2 hours at 0400am to Philadelphia for my daughter's flight.  We parked, got her bags checked and walked her through security.  We double checked to make sure her flight was not cancelled and set off to return to NJ.  30 minutes later, my daughter calls me to tell me her flight was cancelled.  We turn around (already in NJ) and go back to pick her up.  Upon arrival, I was notified that her flight was not cancelled.  I was told that there was a flight advisary for young fliers to not fly if their flight has a connection because there was a POSSIBILTY of cancellation.  ANY flight has the POSSIBILITY of cancellation.  I had to purchase another ticket on another airline in order to get her to her destination.  All of this could have been avoided by

1.  A phone call, email or text notification to me regarding this advisary

2. An actual advisary on the website

3. The ticket agent should have never checked my daughter in

Because of all of this, I was forced to pay an additional $634 in order to get my daughter back to FL.
