Never work for this company, the people running it are convicted felons, and use drugs. They claim to own the company but don't. But that's not the reason. The reason is because they will put you at a post and you work 13 hours but only get paid for 12. They wont pay overtime ,they are always wanting the employees to sign lilegal papers for everything, uniforms, not getting overtime, and many other outrageous things. They say in their ad that they hire ex-police, well not so many, I think there is 3. The others are people that took their class, trust me, they don't belong in this type of work. There is drama everyday, the "self proclaimed owner" has told his employees that they can't be friends with people that no longer work there. If they don't want someone there they will cut their hours so they will quit so he doesn't have to pay unemployment. And even if he does fire them he will do and say anything to keep from paying. They are only there to get paid, they don't care About their employee's. There is so much more but I can't say our they will Sue me. Lol

US Dept of Labor investigation of SSF

Notice to all former employees of Special Security Force:

There is a current Department of Labor investigation underway on SSF.  For all employees wishing to file complaints on SSF payroll violations, you can contact the US Department of Labor.  Advise them that you wish to contact the investigator (Charmaine Newman) and give her information regarding your experiences with SSF.

Also, be aware that Mike Griffith, one of the owners of SSF, has formed a new company, United Metro Security Force, LLC, which has two trade names it is operating under, Special Security Force and United Metro Security.

I dont think successful people are those who are using drugs. I personally have never seen it People who use drugs dont create, run, and grow, one of Arizonas largest and fastest growing Security Companies in Arizona. Everyone that I know of in the Company has valid Armed and Unarmed Guard Cards so what you are saying is that the State of Arizona is in a conspiracy for issuing licesnes... 

Ive got some shocking news for you. Special Security Force owns Special Security Force. Its an entity of many people working together as a whole towards the same goal. Providing great Security!!! You must have had different ideas in mind, like us paying for your lunches everyday, as you yourself presented in your next statement, The reason is because they will put you at a post and you work 13 hours but only get paid for 12.  Last I checked there arent very many companies that pay for employee lunches at Burger King where you get to have it your way Looks like were talking about an hour long lunch too Im sure we were being charged overtime for those hour long lunches reported on your time card Some people will never be happy  

There is drama everyday, the "self proclaimed owner" has told his employees that they can't be friends with people that no longer work there. I have personally had some of the worst possible personal and professional disagreements with the owners, even made the mistake resigning, over things happening that would make most people never speak to each other again, and Im still good friends them. In all my years of knowing the owners, and I probabaly know them better then most, I have never seen them go out of their way to do anyone wrong or say that they cant be friends. The fact that I am still at SSF should say it all. 

 Your the one that should be worried about getting sued. LOL

Over a year ago you tried to find employment elsewhere and had no idea I was there for your interview and rejection. You spoke SO badly of SSF that I don't see how you stick up for them! Thats right you work for Mike Griffin or Anderson (he uses both, he's a felon) and because you lied about your military service no else will hire you so you crawled back to Mike. Why did Mike buy an 18 year old employee (female) a car??? I LOVE the way they threaten to sue it's as comical as the company and Bill Medina! I will say yes they rarely fire people they just won't give employees any hours for weeks on end until you are forced to quit. I read the DPS reports and in the courts they are not going to look good, especially since you wrote one yourself , Doyle. Scumbags like Mike area dime a dozen, I wonder if his employees know that when pay is late it is because they constantly borrow money from Mike's girlfriends, Karens mother?? Thats professional! NO ONE leaves that company happy, and DARE is Don who is left alone, as SSF is a joke to him and just extra income. This company has no integrity and is run from a GARAGE!!! google earth the company address and you end up in a cul-de sac. You would be better off flipping burgers and make more money than you do for these scam artist. If you do take the class ask the "boss" Mike how come he can't carry a firearm, hint, well no FELON can. This company is waste of time , money and the lowest of all companies in the valley, no one else will hire you if they know you worked for them!! When I began investigating them the deeper I dig the worse it get's, please do your homework!!!!

Hello my name is Tony Garcia and I co-own Arizona Safety and Security Institute.  I first met Mike around two years ago.  Instantly I knew that he was a snake in the grass.  He had discussions with my business partner about how he was starting a new security company and how he wanted to start a business relationship by sending his guards through our training.  Two weeks later he starts his own training company after going through our classes.  Sure he can say that our training is not up to his standards but I counter back with this:
He has no true facility to train from he uses his house and a church. He has no firearm simulator like we do.  He is not accredited like we are. And we are Arizona Department of Education teachers.


He lies to individuals who go through his training in order to get paid.  We have had numerous individuals who have gone through our doors looking for employment because he broke his promises to them. He can counter back by wanting names but we fear for those individuals because he is vindictive.

Not only did he use us to start his concepts (please refer to his web site, his training page was copied and pasted from what I originally did) he stole the truck concept from Signal 88.  He did ride alongs with Signal 88 when they first came into the valley (he pretended to be an investor)  and he took all their ideas and used them for his company.  

He also states that he is a former MCSO Deputy, but the question remains of how long he was and why he was fired. 

I am a very truthful person and have no reason to hide.  If you have questions or concerns feel free to contact me via website.  I just want true professionalism in the state of Arizona security industry and Mike has no concept of what a true professional is.

I worked for SSF for a long time, and I for one can tell anyone that asks that the supervisors, owner, and even your fellow guards will go out of their way to help you if you need it. This is my response to your statement "they don't care about their employees." You are VERY wrong on that for the simple fact that even when I needed small things like gas money to get to work they were always there for me. When I felt uncomfortable at a post the supervisor IMMEDIATELY sent someone out because they teach officer safety is NUMBER ONE. Not only do they train you how to use equipment, but they issue it as well, EVEN the smallest things you feel you need, you can just ask the office. The thing I loved most about SSF is it was a family not just a "company" like it feels in other companies ive worked for.  I always got paid, and got paid my overtime as well so I do not know why you accused them of that (sounds like slander to me but im no lawyer) .  The patrol supervisor even stopped by the site to give me WATER! They are the most understanding company i have ever been with and I highly regard SSF and would recommend them to anyone. I hope that you are doing well in whatever you are doing, but by burning your bridges with SSF you lost a family. I wish you the best and take care.

We pretty much know who this is but we are taking steps to verify your identity. Some people no matter what any employer does will never be happy. You had it made and we did everything we could and it was never enough.

The man that is on the license of this company may have been seen by 3 or 4 people in the last 3 years and you are not one of them. He has been in the business for over 25 years. He is as nice as he is fair. No one can say anything bad about him because he gives and gives and helps out the employee's and you should be ashamed of your post.

The main trainer is an Ex-Police officer and every security company will always try to hire former Police Officers if they can afford them. No one in any company will ever really know how many Police Officers work at a company because that's private information which is not shared at any company, so I know your facts are incorrect.

I can not speak for other Security Companies but the employee's this last year (Christmas Time) were able to enjoy a very nice catered in Bar-B-Que dinner with all the fix-ens. I brought my kids and even all the children got a present from Santa.

The company had beer, wine, pop, chips and held a free raffle drawing to where every single employee was able to select a gift and then we put all the numbers back in a hat and started again until all the gifts were given out to the employee's.
Employee's are the backbone of every company and if you would have remained as an employee longer, you would have found this out first hand!

What people do when they are off work is up to them. Any company will not take the time to even care what employee is friends with another or even ex-employee, no company has the time to worry about that non-sense.

Why do you worry about unemployment if you have a job?? If you get a job and work, no one will ever have to worry about unemployment. You are telling everyone that you filed for unemployment and got turned down for what you did or did not do. That's on you.

The very 1st employee that ever worked for Special Security Force is still employed with the company and is a current Sergeant. This man is one of the nicest guys and we hope he remains with SSF forever. DARE:: If you respond to this post, please tell us who the 1st employee was since you feel you know everything.

Unemployment is handled professionally and no company has the ability to change the outcome. It is what it is. An employee can file for unemployment with any company and an investigation is completed and if the employee meets the requirements, the individual will get unemployment but if he or she does not, they will not. That decision is made by a neutral party that does not work for the company.

You will find that this company retains most of the employee's and the ones that leave, move on to something that will better there life. I can count on one had how many employee's were fired in the last year and that is very rare. I want you to know that each employee was given multiple chances and received additional training to make them a better security guard. The last thing that any company wants to do is see any security officer leave regardless of the reason because then more officers have to be trained and that cost money. We try to correct our officers rather then terminate them.

Who ever you are I hope you the best in finding a company that better suites you.
