 We moved into a new home and purchased a one year home appliance warranty from Stanley in December 2012 for $ 535. They promised a restaurant.com gift certificate which never came. After several calls I was informed that they had discountinued that program and replaced it with the "DafeSecure Club" which offers a bunch of absolutely worthless services that I can't imagine anyone ever using. On November 7, 2013 our refrigerator / freezer failed. After several calls and conflicting information I was able to file an online claim later that day. Over the next several days I called trying to get a claim approval number so I could get a serviceman out. On November 11th, four days later (despite them advertising "Stanley Safe Club has you covered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year") I received the first and ONLY claim acknowledgement in the form of an e-mail. It informed me that I would be contacted and warned me against proceeding without first obtaining their approval. Over the next several days as the ice melted in the refrigerator ice maker and the food thawed in the freezer we were forced to throw out meat, dairy products and other food. Still we waited. I called almost every day and sent several e-mails. On November 15th, EIGHT DAYS after filing the claim and STILL no claim number or authorization to have the repairs done, I called a local appliance repair company who came out and inspected then ordered a new circuit board. STILL nothing from Stanley!!!! So on November 15th I both called and sent a stronly worded e-mail telling them what I thought of their 24/365 service. Later in the day I got a phone call from a guy that couldn't apologize enough - that was about the ONLY thing he could do apologize. He offered to have a service man come out the next day and I told him that I had already taken care of the repair. He didn't offer to pay for the service, only that he was really "sorry".. I told him that both he, and his company, were "really sorry". I asked if he could extend my coverage, offer a partial refund, etc...."NO" but he was "really sorry"! Save the money you would have WASTED buying non-existent coverage from these crooks and self insure. You will save both money and frustration.
