Brie,

Please cancel this contract effective immediately I can no longer afford to pay for a service that I am not receiving.   I trusted in Elliott that Star Tribune would be able to do an exceptional job in promoting my business to provide me with more overall sales.  This did not happen.  I would like to review the contract items to illustrate how each item was not provided.  The contract items listed are as follows.

  1. The Landing Page with Montage Video – It looks great however, it only produced one call when combined with a huge SEM spend on one day over a four month period.

  1. Online Directory Preferred Placement – I did a search on Star Tribune’s business finder and could not find my business listed let alone being listed in a preferred placement.  I could not figure out how to do a search to find my online directory preferred placement listing.

  1. SEO – 6 Key Phrases – Elliott mentioned that this would take 1-2 months to get to the first or second page of search results since I was such a “unique” business.  Your reporting tools indicate that I didn’t have any SEO ranking in August and September.  At the end of September, I signed up with Yext to propagate my information across local listings websites.  In October, four of my key word rankings increased to between 60 and 96.  Since it was only four of the key words, I have to assume that this increase was due to my Yext campaign and not anything that Start Tribune did.

Additionally, I asked several times for information about what was being done to increase SEO.  After a couple of weeks, I finally got some erroneous information from Brie saying “Strategist has set up locals, title tags and meta descriptions. Strategist is now reviewing content and based on the current features of the customer’s existing website, additional steps will be taken to optimize the website”.  I then discovered that they had not been able to gain access to my website due to additional security I had implemented.

Elliott made assurances from the beginning that Star Tribune’s strategists would work closely with me to optimize my website and setup proper meta data.  This never happened. Additionally, I was informed nearly four months after inception that I would have to upgrade my service in order to get the level of service that Elliott promised was part of the package

I do not believe that Star Tribune implemented any kind of SEO campaign in my behalf.

  1. SEM - $100 Spend – The initial keywords were ineffectual.  I voiced this shortly after launch.  $0.00 was spent for August.  $0.97 was spent for September.  It appears that some kind of changes were made on October 15th.  $99.95 was spent on Oct. 15th.  This produced one call.  A lesser amount was spent on the 16th, 17th, 18th, and 20th.  We did not see any elevation in actual sales for this burst in spending.  Spend went back to zero after the 20th.

Because of the breaches of the contract detailed above, per basic contract law, the contract is null and void.  Please remove any outstanding or future balance from my account so I don’t have to file suit to have the balance removed.

I am very disappointed in the lack of results and actual service that the Star Tribune delivered.  I do want to add that Brie has been a wonderful contact and interface there at Star Tribune.  The Tribune is lucky to have such a good Account Rep.

Please let me know the final standing of my account as soon as it is determined.

Thank you,

Mark Grover
