Received an email stating I had an online loan that was in default. It requests that I send $1230.00 or face additional charges, court action and will be sent to the Federal Crimes Bureau. This email contains my name, social security number, date of birth and home address. This email is fake but my concern is that they have all my personal information.

The scammers have gotten your information from something you may have filled out, even long ago, that has your private information. They either buy this information from unscrupulous employees or they buy it from a hacking site. Or, as I said, you might have filled out something with this information some time ago and they have gained accesss to it.
THERE IS NO LOAN! You DO NOT owe any Money! This is scam is COMMON. It runs rampant because it works. The person is so scared they are going to be arrested! You do NOT get arrested for owing money! I repeat: YOU DO NOT GET ARRESTED FOR OWING MONEY!
If you really owed money, you would receive snail mail to appear before a judge to talk about debt, if any and they must PROVE you owe money. This scam you are going through, has NOTHING to do with our proper legal system!
This is an OLD common scam! They have obtained your information fraudently. They do this FAKE LOAN THREAT 1000's of times a DAY!
STOP Answering your Phone. Turn the ringer volume to LOW or OFF. If anyone in your family needs to call you, note misssed calls. DO NOT PAY THESE WORTHLESS SCAMMERS ONE RED CENT!!!!!
