I purchased a Doberman puppy from these people in March of 2007. He was 8 months old when I purchased him. Their website has claims that their puppies are housebroken, etc... Mine could barely control his bowels.

I've been waiting since March of 2007 for his AKC papers which were NEVER PROVIDED! I paid over $3,000 for this dog and I have no papers.

Pauline McKinnon keeps promising to send them but never does!

These people are crooks! Don't buy from them! Everything they tell you to get your money is a LIE!

Papers

AUTHOR: Ron brock - (U.S.A.)

Finally - After contacting the AKC I got the papers. The claim that these freaks make about the dog being trained is crap! They are liars! This dog had NO training.

Go to a real breeder if you are looking for a Doberman!

#2 REBUTTAL Owner of company

Difficult angy Buyer did not follow dog's transfer guidlines and did not return contract as required for AKC papers

AUTHOR: Paulinemck - (U.S.A.)

Ron Brock did not return the placement contract which I stated was required for me to send AKC papers.

After 6 months he finally returned the contract to us.

I have just sent the third set of AKC papers directly to the PA Attorney General to forward to him so it is on file and proven that he has received papers. I do not believe he hasn't receive them and want to have other parties involved to end his harassment.

Ron Brock purchased a dog after several phone conversations and video with myself-Pauline, and my husband-Steve McKinnon. When he received the dog, he did not follow our guidlines for food, feeding and use of crate and time to relax after a transfer.

The over-feeding issue resulted in his bowel problems, as well as his anxiety over your yelling and unwillingness to give him time to "settle in" after coming to a new home. They are not robots to be expected to perform on command when he did not even have time to develop an emotional bond with you. You were doubting and critical from the beginning leaving Roman to feel distant from you, therefore no one to have comfort in.

Romeo was barking on command, off leash taught and certainly housebroken long before coming to you. All our dogs live in our home with us and our 5 children. We do not have kennel runs, we do not breed volumes of puppies and we do not separate the dogs from us. They are born in our family room and raised as our pets until the day they leave us. It is my husband I and we do this full time-all the raising, teaching and transfer ourselves. We do not employ ANY others in ANY capacity.

We try to screen our clients because of the love and commitment we have for our dogs, they are members of our family and our clients as well. Unfortunately i this situation we failed the dog, placing him in an unstable home.

We have had these bloodlines for 30 years and do not allow breeding of our dogs or participate in the showring.

We breed and raise dogs as service dogs and family companions and family protection and have hundreds of thrilled clients who we consider family. A couple times a year we have clients from 10 or 12 years ago come to us for their new family member and we are honored to provide that.

Typo in my previous reply..

AUTHOR: Eddie - (U.S.A.)

Just to clarify. When I started to reply to your message, I was guessing it was about 7 years ago that we bought or Doberman from Elite Family Dogs. But upon going back and looking at some of the communications with them, it was actuall in 2001, so it was 9 years ago.

My experience with Elite Family Dogs.

AUTHOR: Eddie - (U.S.A.)

We purchased a doberman from Steve and Pauline about 9 years ago. He had perfect temperment when coming into an existing household with other pets. We could not have asked for a better integration. He quickly became an integral part of our family, and to this day, we wouldn't trade him for anything.

We ended up talking to them on the phone several times over a few months before deciding to purchase our doberman from Steve and Pauline. They were extremely helpful, patient, and just plain very nice people. They were not "pushy salesman" type people in any way.

The money we spent with Elite Family Dogs was steep for us when we bought him seven years ago. But I would pay that money in a heartbeat knowing the quality and "family friendly" tempermant their dogs are taught prior to delivery. No question about it. Elite Family Dogs are definitely not scammers.

More info

AUTHOR: Devilsadvocate4education*just My Opinions* - (U.S.A.)

You probably already found it but here it is anyways. I found some PA puppy lemon laws which address registration. If a seller is selling a puppy as registerable, they must provide the necessary documentation within 120 days or you can return the dog for refund or keep the dog and are entitled to 50% of the purchase price back. More info on PA puppy lemon law at the attorney general dot gov slash consumer. Or google PA puppy lemon law :-). Please let us know the outcome.

Thanks

AUTHOR: Ron Brock - (U.S.A.)

Thanks for the info. I'll go to that site and check that out. I have a home in Georgia and one in Illinois.

Not sure what she meant by fax - I'm assuming that he has never been registered - AKC could only find a litter number for him.

I've actually just purchased space in Puppy World, Dog World, and Dog Fancy. I'm going to run an ad about these people. If all else fails I'm going to sue them for 70% of what I paid plus expenses to go to PA to file, etc.

I've got an expert witness that is willing to go to court with me - I've even got the e-mails that they sent claiming to have mailed and faxed the papers.

I've filed a report with the AKC - I'm going to go to that site right now and file a report with PA. I've already filed with the attorney general.

Thank you for the clarification

AUTHOR: Devilsadvocate4education*just My Opinions* - (U.S.A.)

My questions and comments are quite often misunderstood :-). So, I guess did you move or anything? If you did not break your agreements in any way but they did, you may have a remedy or two if you choose. PA lemon laws don't address papers that I can see anywhere, but if it was a condition and agreement of the sale you may be able to get some of your money back at least and if it's worth the trouble to you if they don't provide them. Try sending a certified demand letter including your current address (and copies of all your supporting information) first. How would they fax registration papers? How was that supposed to work? Was he registered to them? Or was he never registered? If he is your pet, a lack of protection training is a good thing :-). Actual guard dogs are not pets. I know, it's the point.

Is he doing better now? Some dobie's take quite awhile to settle down and can seem as dumb as rocks in the early years, LOL. My friend lost her Doby to bloat last year. She couldn't afford to pay for a nice healthy doby from a good breeder right then. I told her it shouldn't be a problem, there should be plenty to choose from since people don't always make it through the 'growing up phase' and give up too early (not enough doby knowledge and not the right homes for their temperament). Sure enough, there were plenty of Doby's between 1 and 2 to check out.

I hope things are going better for you AND your pup. Let us know what happens. P.S. I emailed them to let them know about the report to see what their side of the story is and/or if they take steps to correct the situation. P.S.S. they are a licensed kennel in PA. Their inspection records can be reviewed by going to services dot agriculture dot state dot pa dot us slash KennelInspections slash SearchKennelInspections dot aspx (a really cool site I found while helping someone try to find a good breeder) *just my opinions*

Nothing to be done

AUTHOR: Ron Brock - (U.S.A.)

It took more than 6 months to get him kennel trained and another 3 or 4 months to get him housebroken.

Their website is full of false claims. I have e-mails from these people stating that my papers have been mailed and faxed - I haven't received anything.

They claimed my dog had protection work training when they sold him to me - He was only 8 months old - so that was a lie as well.

Questions - looking for some clarification

AUTHOR: Devilsadvocate4education*just My Opinions* - (U.S.A.)

Dobie's can be far more sensitive than people think. A change in enviroment can be stressful. A change in food can definantly contribute. Could there have been any other factors stressing the dog out which would contribute to the potty training problems? Could there be any other factors involved? A potty trained dog can become un potty trained. There could be several contributing factors to this aside from potty training like diet, stress, something in the enviroment, the enviroment itself and different routines to name a few.

I can't find any other complaints about this kennel. Are there any before this one anywhere you can direct me to? Could there be something you were supposed to de before recieving the papers? Was there something that was contingent in doing so? Were there any possible misrepresentations or something they may have seen as a misrepresentation in your stated situation having to do with the terms of the purchase? Like living situation (this is important) or did you say you did not intend to breed or are you supposed to provide proof of neuter or something like that? I'm not saying you were a deceptive buyer, but they do certainly exist. Just looking at possible reasons something like this could happen *just my opinions*
