Steven R. Liss, Esq. has had so many California State Bar Complaints I wouldn't know where to begin. Even now he is fighting to keep his license. But what this guy does is takes money from clients and does not produce ANY work or he overbills so much that you have to get another attorney just to figure it all out. He comes on like he "really cares" espicially towards women. Tells them that he knows how they feel to be "victims" while at the same time he is either (a) taking money from clients for Family Law services or Adoptions/Surrogacy/Egg Donation/Birth Mother's and NEVER produces a single thing. Try to get in touch with him too because if you call his office asking what is going on he will put you on hold and then put his voice mail on.

If you are unlucky enough to work for him DO NOT EXPECT TO GET PAID! EVER! I found out the hard way and while I was working there people in the building started telling me that his Paralegals only last about a week. WHY? Well everyone else in the building new the answer....he just does not pay them and they leave in a week or two. God help you if you are good looking because he will try to "buy" you with offers to pay your phone bill or fix your car. When he was told that a simple and normal paycheck would suffice he simply refused to pay. As I researched Steven R. Liss, Esq. La Jolla CA on the Internet I found MULTIPLE complaints from other sources. Citysearch in San Diego was one site that he is records him as a crook by clients and employees alike.

When a Paralegal tries to collect monies owed for work he starts to try to suck you in to come back to work and get paid next week. When a Paralegal refuses Steve Liss simply acuses her of not being "up to snuff", "can't work up to professional standards", "does not know the law". Well Steven Liss, Esq. why did you keep her on then. He will also try to acuse you of not showing up to work when the truth is the Paralegal is at work (8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.)) and Steve is the one showing up at 11:00 a.m. AND NO HE WAS NOT AT COURT IN THE MORNING. He stays for two hours and just when it is time for the Paralegal to go to lunch Steven R. Liss makes some excuse about having to leave to pick-up something he found on Craig's List of all things. So there she is having to stay through lunch day after day.

God help you if you are Christian and celebrate Christmas. Because this joker called his Paralegal in on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Christmas Weekend. First the calls and emails were for dates to be alone with him but after she said, "Sorry I have plans for the Holidays", he came up with all kinds of last minute excuses to make her drop her family with small children and run to his HOUSE not office HOUSE. I think I will call him when Passover comes around and tell him his office is on fire and see if he likes running from the Synagouge to the office leaving his kids behind. 

This man is going through a divorce so he thinks every single woman out there wants him in her life....RUN AWAY, RUN FAST AS YOU CAN. Because in the office he is either trying to kiss (yes really kiss you) or he is yelling at you like an idiot. Once he knows he has no chance with you he will try to break you down and by FINIALLY NOT PAYING YOU YOUR PAYCHECK.

I feel so sorry for all those families trying to Adopt kids or for clients who hired him for a Family Law Matter because he just does not do the work. Sorry my advice is this: EVERY ATTORNEY IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA (PROBABLY EVERY STATE AS WELL) MUST HAVE MALPRACTICE INSURANCE....THIS MEANS YOU, AS A CLIENT, CAN SUE THE HELL OUT OF HIM AND WIN. So DO IT!
