After I purchased the timeshare they told me the bank didnt give me the credit, I have to go thru their financial system. Of course it is 6.9% and the bank (RCI) interest rate offered, was 6 months 0%. So when they said I wasn't approved we try to get the loan thru RCI with my wife. Then they told me my wife's SS# didn't work. My wife didn't believe it, so we called the bank and the bank told us, they already approved it and they already paid to Sunset Group!!!!

Probably, they were trying to receive payment twice?!?! At that point my wife and I decided we didn't want the timeshare, but they told us, because it is a re-sale they couldn't refund the money(down payment) we already paid and they couldn't buy back the timeshare now, maybe later. They continued to tell us the only way we could receive our money back is that we have to pay for the timeshare in full first then the money would be refunded if we still was unhappy with everything.

We told them 3 days after the purchase we dont want it. You "can" cancel it between 5 days, but ours was a "re-sale". Of course when we signed the papers we were told by the sales person and the manager with a huge smile they would back the timshare at anytime, with no value lossed, whenever we decided we dont want the timeshare anymore.

When I returned back home, from Cancun, I received mail from the bank, saying that they didn't approve my credit loan because suprisingly my name on the application that Sunset Group filled out and submitted read "Robert Robert". They wrote my first name twice. If somebody make that huge mistake, they shouldn't work with money!!!! I called the bank, they corrected the problem and issued me a RCI card. I took it, because being that they didn't want to buy the timeshare back I tried to avoid there 6,9% interst rate.

That was only the beginning of other problems we had, dealing with Sunset Group. At few weeks later we paid for the timeshare in full, we requested for them to send a receipt or letter stating that our payment was made in full. First they told us, they not use to write this letters, but after us sending several faxs and emails of complaints to Sunset Group we finally received a letter of payment after 4 months time.

So finally wrote another email stating that wanted to sell back the timeshare because we were not happy with it. Then they sent an email back, after us trying to contact them numerous times thru several different faxes and emails, that they were not buying back timeshares at this time. They were going to consider buying it back in about a few months later. They told us they "buy-back" times in october and february.

After searching and searching finally we found this website, found someone who was experiencing similar problems with Sunset Group also, recommended to contact Profeco. We contact with them, but we need more help, because they lied a lot. Latest information is, they offered now to cancel my timeshare with no money back. What?!?!?! Do they think I planning to give away $20000 of my hard earned money? Someone, if you can help stop this Company for robbing people further, of there hard earned money. If someone is out there that can help please contact us as soon as possible. Thank you.

It is always best to hire someone skilled to do so, unfortunately in most cases these companies dedicated to cancel timeshares usually cheat for the second time to their customers since they are vulnerable and desperate. If you are thinking of hiring them you just have to make sure you do not have to make any payment upfront.

You are no help!!! You just want to find out who is Justice. Also, you just lie to get people to contact you and make it seem like you want to help. CUSTOMER SERVICE, you are worthless!!!!! Doesn't matter under what kind of name you put response. Everyone DO NOT BELIEVE any fake response from the happy "consumers".

Do not believe the response from VIP/Sunset

Dear Robert,

I am very sorry that you have to deal with the scam artist at Sunset/VIP/RCI resorts. I wrote about my experience listed in 05/09. The VIP rebuttal that was sent to me was just a diversion tactic to look like they want to resolve the issue.
I would suggest filing a complaint with the attorney general and let them begin investigating the complaint. Also file with the Better Business Bureau. If you can get one person to avoid this financial extortion then some justice will be served. Best Wishes. Justice

Hi Robert,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having a hard time getting your money back.

I've heard via my girlfriends that if you email quality@vip-travel-club.com with your membership number and whatnot. The customer service staff is usually helpful, so I imagine that they'd help you get your money back if at all possible.

Perhaps they've been busy with timeshare purchases... so they've been slower to respond?

Based on reading your reports, I know that you haven't had much luck with email... but Give it a try.

Hello Mrs.Rosie Aragon,
This is Robert Once again writing in response to your reply, I emailed you back as requested with all the information you needed and as I already knew, you have not responded to my emails just like the others at Sunset Group. I don't know why you made it seem as if you were so willing and eager to help, but just like the others at Sunset Group, there has been no response from you as well. Just more lies to make Sunset Group and your self look good. You and your organization will not last long stealing from people like this. I work hard for everything I have, this company has done nothing but cause problems and discomfort. I will get my money back as promised to me for all of my hard aches, and discomforts caused by Sunset Group, with or without your help. Thanks for showing how Sunset Group really cares about people, all you care about is stealing money for profits. This wont last too much longer.

No more lies!!!!

According to your response our post did not include enough information for you. Make it sort for you:
1. We went back before 5 days, to get our money back as promised, but they said we could, because the contract was a resale, we have to pay it in full first
2. When we paid in full, we tried again, send many emails, no response, when finally we get an answer, not this time (in October) but we get back our money in the next buy-back time in February
3. In February we got a response, you tried to cancel my membership without refunding our money, because why? you thought we just love to donate to Sunset Group $20,000 USD, it's called steal peoples hard earn money, if someone is unhappy with your services Be honorable and refund there money, as u promised.

And why would I email you at ,@sunset.com.mx, to get no response again? It is waste of time.

When we called in February Montse Castaeda was very rude and not helpful at all.
