Super 8 Motel Gatlinburg Tennessee Deceptive, Over Priced, Dirty, Bad Plumbing, Horrible Food, and More Gatlinburg, Tennessee

I booked a two day stay at the Super 8 in Gatlinburg Tn August 14th and 15th. After I booked the rooms, we decided to take a third person. So I called back (THE SAME DAY) and was told three times that it would be perfectly fine to change accomodations to two queens rather than one King. But computers were being upgraded and I would need to call back. So I did. Still down, called later that night, still down. Called the next morning and was told I would need to speak to the owner, to call back after 7. But assured me it would still be no problem. I called back promptly (were on the same time zone) and was told I could NOT change the accomadations. Oh well.

Then once we arrive they did in fact change them but charged up 15.00 more to add a third person. Understood. No big deal. Then we go to bed. Get up the next day and mind you we slept in later than we intended. NO HOT WATER. Omg, I thought this can't be happening. We brushed it off to thinking the hot water tank must be empty since we woke up later than usual and everyone in the hotel beat us to it. So we rushed our showers and left. I called from my cell phone and told the motel manager on duty. They assured me the hot water was fine.

Next day NOT ANY HOT WATER. It's 10am and we are to be OUT by 11am and three of us need showers and need to load everything in the room. No time to complain , no time to move rooms for hot shower if needed, no time for questions or we wouldn't even get a shower. So we suffered yet again. After loading the car, I went to the office to turn in the keys and very nicely said there was still no hot water and we went two days with no hot water. She told me it has to be in the handles then. Ugh, I said no way there is only ONE handle in the middle and it controls both hot and cold. She said hmmmm. There was one other couple behind me snickering at the low end breakfast being offered and overheard my conversation. They stepped up to the desk clerk and said they too had no hot water. Well, now is the time I would expect an apology and some recourse. But she (the hotel manager) just looked at me and said WOW the hot water tank must be broken AGAIN! I was furious but didn't show it. Since I didn't want to make a scene and we were on our way out. But they did bother making double sure to add extra fee's to my Visa for my brother in law staying with us. But not even a quick apology for the inconvenience of the showers. And the other couple, they stay directly above us. 

So, at this point we are already behind on schedule and leaving there was a must at this point. But I would like to tell everyone how wonderful we were treated at this facility. (NOT)

The floors appear to be clean, however after swimming (in the nice warm pool outside) we came in and walked in our white cotton socks on the bare carpets and they (our socks) turned very black. So did our towels we laid on the floor since there was no where to actually hang them to get them off the floor. It was disgusting. 

The beds were very hard to sleep on. The springs made our backs hurt something horrible. We realize that cheaper motels don't offer better stays but come on, the mattresses should have been replaced. I've seen better mattresses coming on a futon now days. 

The fridge was fine, coffee maker also fine. As well as the blow dryer. And microwave was dirty inside but clean on the outside. The Wi-Fi worked great, and the pool was incredible since it was heated. The continental breakfast was horrid. The good stuff was behind the very large desk clerk and she was not sharing. The remote to the TV wouldn't change channels and the air conditioner wouldn't stay on through the night. It would freeze up. So we would have to shut it off and wait for morning to turn it back on again.

However, the motel cleaning staff was great. We left high end electronics and money in the room and they never touched anything except to make the beds and put everything exactly where we left it. I applaud them. 

Also, what I was quoted for the charges wasn't what was actually charged to my bill. Once home, I checked online and found they overcharged me. Only by 50 cents. BUT, if they do that to everyone that comes there, eventually they ware raking in a lot of bucks over time. 

This is my two cents of that horrible two days in that motel. If anyone even considers going there, I would hope they take my advice to heart. STAY AWAY!
