I reserved a room for two nights through expedia at the Super 8 in Shakopee MN. My reservation was for a non-smoking room, as my significant other was diagnosed with pneumonia several days prior. When we checked in on friday the 6th and I was told that my reservation through expedia did not specify the room so I had to take the smoking room unless I wanted to pay an extra $20.00 per night. I called expedia right away and explained the situation.

Expedia told me I did pay for a non-smoking room and that they would call the hotel and talk with a manager. The front desk person told expedia that no manager was on staff and would not be back for three days, and also told expedia there were no non-smoking rooms. There had only been a twenty minute difference between check in and expedia calling the front desk.

Having no other options at midnight we went to the room. My significant other coughed all night long, and on top of that the bedding was filthy and everything smelled like death.

First thing saturday morning I called expedia again and spoke with another customer service person. He and I went over the notes from the midnight conversation and he said he would call the front desk again while I waited on hold.

He came back and said the front desk person said he would have to talk with a manager and that one would be in around ten that morning. I did not hear anything from expedia other than I could change hotels if there were any available in the area we needed, and there was not.

I tried to talk with the person at the front desk saturday afternoon after we had returned to the hotel and the lady at the desk told me I would have to talk to a manager about changing rooms but the manager was gone for the night.

I asked if she could call a manager and she said she could not. So we spend another night at this hotel and in this room as the reservation was non-refundable. My significant other coughed all night long and the bedding was still dirty. I cannot even describe the smell of everything, even the bathroom towels smelled like death.
