SW Credit Services placed a derogatory mark on my credit report before speaking with me about the charge. As soon as I learned about the charge I paid the account in full.  Now they say they will update my credit report to show that the account is paid in full, but that it will still show as derogatory.

The problem with this is that I have not missed a payment on anything in over 6 years and I would have never let this hit my credit report if I had known about it.  I've had the same phone number for the past 10 years; it would have literally taken one phone call where they left a message and the account would have been paid a long time ago.  The very first time I learned about the charge was when I checked my credit report.  As soon as I learned about it I paid the balance off in full. Now they say they will update my credit report to show it is paid but that it will still show as derogatory.

The charge was from an auto insurance policy I had back in 2012 with AAA.  AAA now says that I owe them one month's premium of $123, but decided to never call me or let me know about it over the past 2 and a half years.  They then sent it to SW Credit Services who has never spoken with me about this charge.  They said they tried to call me but that it's against company policy to leave a message.  I don't answer phone calls from 1-800 numbers so I have never known about the charge until I just checked my credit report.  I paid the balance off in full as soon as I learned about it.  Now SW Credit Services is refusing to take this derogatory mark off my credit report.

Please help me teach this company a lesson by not using their services.  If they treated me unfairly then they’ll treat you unfairly also.  If you are a business that is considering using SW Credit Systems then I ask for you to please not move forward with a business relationship with them.  They are unethical, unreasonable, and will treat you the same way as they treated me.

As Per Your Report...

AUTHOR: Jim - ()

POSTED: Sunday, December 14, 2014

You acknowledge you had  an account with the AAA insurance company.  You also go on to say you are selective as to who's phone calls you will answer.

As per what you say the AAA told you, you never paid the final amount and your account was sent to collection.  You do not deny you failed to make that final payment and it was two and a half years late!

Since it was indeed late for over two years, it is accurate to report it as a "LATE" payment, even if you paid it rcently.  Paying it recently does not make the two and a half year late status go away.

A reasonable person answers the phone when it rings, especially if there are repeated calls from the same number.  At this point, you can add a statement to your credit report describing this situation.  If everything else is as you say it is, this matter will probably have little affect on the big credit picture.
