I was an independent contractor with Team Double Click for approximately 6 months.

I have been ridiculed in front of others, treated with disrespect and just given terrible treatment.

Team Double Click is a virtual staffing agency. I had several contracts with various clients during this time.

The last client was considered a "trouble" client but I handled her with care, concern and professionalism until she had a diabetic moment (unbeknownst to me) and basically cussed me out in an email.

I decided to terminate my relationship with this client. The next thing I knew, TDC terminated my entire working relationship with them.

Interestingly enough, my roommate, who also had DIFFERENT clients with TDC, was also "fired."

Be careful of this company. If you NEED a virtual assistant, be aware that they will charge you double what the VA makes plus a fee. As a virtual assistant, loyalty, good work and praise from clients means nothing.

As an aside, I was featured in their newsletter because of my performance.

Update Regarding Team Double Click

AUTHOR: A Va For You - (U.S.A.)

Oh my goodness. As an ex-employee (and yes I used the word employee!), I was surprised to see so many names that I know on these rebuttals. Would you believe me if I told you that almost all of those that were "happy" with Team Double Click on these rebuttals are no longer with Team Double Click?

Most of them were released by Team Double Click! Not all of them, but most of them. I wonder if they went back and reread their words what they would have to say today about this company. Probably not the glowing reports that they gave on this report forum! In fact I know some of them personally, and I know exactly what they would say today!

I can speak from experience. I was released from this company after a year and a half of service. I too was featured in their exceptional VA column and I was a great VA. The clients that I worked with can vouch for that if I were allowed to contact them!

I encountered numerous problems with this company, from them holding my pay for weeks at a time to them telling me exactly what I had to do (even though I was told I was an Independent Contractor) and when I had to do it and how they wanted it done!

They were a good company when I started with them, but as with what moves most people - greed took over.

From what I have been told by those who are still there and from those who have left recently and reading the various current postings in other various forums, this company won't be lasting too much into 2009 - from IRS investigations to different state unemployment claims to other ex-employees various lawsuits - Gayle and Jim should soon be reaping everything that is deserved for a company that treats their people poorly and gets too greedy.

Inaccurate and Unfortunate Accusation

AUTHOR: Elizabeth Ann - (U.S.A.)

I have worked with Team Double Click for the past six months and cannot stand idly by while unfair accusations are being hurled at this Company and it's owners.

I've recently seperated from Team Double Click due to a change in my availability.

I have absolutely nothing to gain by writing on their behalf other than I would be remiss to stand by while this unfortunate and unfair press is launched.

It has been my experience that Team Double Click's founders, Gayle and Jim Buske are honest, trustworthy and intent on offering nothing but the best service to their Clients as well as unparalleled support to their Contractors.

The Staff is professional and caring, an amazing team!

Please don't judge them unfairly. Anyone would be lucky to count themselves among their ranks!

Judge me if you must

AUTHOR: Mary - (U.S.A.)

For everyone that doesn't know this, there is a clause that allows a client to "buy out" an independent contractor's contract based on a year's work and a percentage.

As my "trouble client" was about to do this, I was terminated.

My other client decided that she wanted to keep me rather than go back through TDC, so she cancelled with them and contacted me. She was willing to do a buy out as well, contacted TDC but there was nothing TDC could do since I was no longer a contractor.

I solicited NO ONE.

Yes, you CAN be ridiculed in front of others when in group chat or on conference calls.

No one knows my situation but me. I've tried to explain but all I get and read is how I must have done something and my ethics are screwed up and yada yada something must be wrong with me.

I guess no one has ever experienced anything where they truly didn't do anything intentionally or maliciously wrong, or even wrong at all, yet got blamed or fired from a job for it. If that is the case, hats off to you guys.

You people make it sound like I am this unethical, unthinking, stupid and irresponsible idiot. If that is what you need to believe, so be it.

Absolutely Amazing

AUTHOR: Donna - (U.S.A.)

"Mary" must live in a dream world.

I spent over 2 years looking into jobs I could do from home. Then I found Team Double Click, even then I spent another year comparing, actually TRYING to compare Team Double Click to other things I had found. There is NO COMPARISON!!!

I have worked for a lot of companies who promise the world and deliver nothing but broken dreams, including staffing agencies and temp services. Most of them give you a quick interview and then toss you out there to sink or swim. I sometimes got the feeling that they enjoyed seeing their employees flailing around in agony. Team Double Click was a truly refreshing change. They have given me the training and complete support that all workers should be entitled to!

They do expect contractors to work hard, to give the client the best service and the most efficient work possible. I can't see that this is asking too much!

As for the extra charge, I imagine that they are in business to make money, don't you? Their compensation is more than fair for all of the headaches that they take away from us. We don't have to LOOK for work, we don't have to WORRY about getting paid for our time these are only a couple of the many things we don't have to worry about.

I can't for the life of me understand what the problem is. Team Double Click asks no more of us as contractors than any other employer would ask of us, and Team Double Click Management isn't "in our face" having a fit about every little thing. They provide backup and support any time we need it.

We don't have to spend our money on gas, we don't have to run up the miles on our car, we don't have to spend money on clothes to wear to the office just to impress a boss who makes a lot more money that we do yet expects us to dress like we make that amount too. I don't have to drive an hour to work before daylight and drive an hour home in the middle of the night anymore!

I love this company and I hope I am part of this team for many many years to come!!
My sister and several of my friends are looking into joining the TDC family very soon!

This company is not a rip-off! This company is not a bad company!

Some people just can't be pleased no matter what the circumstances!

I'm Confused

AUTHOR: Tracy - (U.S.A.)

Hello, I just started with Team Double Click a few months ago. I took about a month of interviews and testing just to be apart of the team. I am very happy with them. I received work within 2 weeks.

My confusion is that after the rebuttals start to come in, Mary stated that she never said that Team Double Click was a Rip-off or a bad company. Then why start a Rip-off Report, if you aren't calling a company bad? I don't know what the situation is, so it won't judge that.

But I agree with a comment earlier about being hired after you left TDC. It is in the contract that you will NOT work for a client/recent client of TDC. I would read over your contract again. It is paragragh 5. It states you have to wait a year after termination date, unless you have written agreement and made a payment to them.

I will say this about TDC, they are a company that knows what they are doing. We are not employees, we are our own boss. We sub-contract ourselves to TDC. They are very supportive and I have help anytime I need it. They build confidence in people who have the expereince and knowledge, but lack the know-how to work at home.

If you think TDC is a good company, don't go to a Rip-off report site to complain because you are upset.

Question as to the Contractor's Ethics

AUTHOR: Mary - (U.S.A.)

As a virtual assistant, how can you be ridiculed in front of others? You never come face to face, you have a computer screen in front of you.

In order to work with Team Double Click, you are a "contractor". You are not an employee. You are responsible for your own expenses and hours you work. Team Double Click is the company that goes out and gets the clients, they do all the marketing, financial, billing, etc. You, as a contractor, are asked if you are interested in working for a client. You have the choice to say no. You also have the choice to terminate your services with a client, but you are not to leave a client without a replacement in place.

Before you begin to contract with Team Double Click, you will undergo some training and testing to verify your skills and knowledge. It's not a guarantee that you are going to receive work, but it's a beginning of your own business. While going through the "interview" process and once agreeable that you want to contract with Team Double Click, you must sign contracts. Do you remember signing those documents? Do you remember the paragraphs about working with a client within one year of your contract termination?

You talk about ethics, but yours would be questionable. You admit that you are working for the one client that you had problems with and wanted to terminate. Now you are currently working for that person. The other client of Team Double Click that you worked with, you are now working for them and they terminated their services with Team Double Click. It would appear that you made contact with these clients. Isn't there a clause in your contract about soliciting work from those clients of Team Double Click?

Any contracting agency is going to charge a rate higher than what they are paying you. If you are working for a staffing agency, do you think they only charge what they are paying you? If you truly believe that, then you are not very savvy of employment agenices and/or staffing services.

I currently contract with Team Double Click. I am a member of the International Virtual Assistants Association. Ethics is very important to me. I don't know this "Mary", but I believe there has to be more than just this one bad incident for her contract to be terminated. I don't believe all the facts have been revealed or that that this "Mary" would ever admit to doing anything wrong. She did admit on this forum that she violated a non-compete clause of her contract. This major violation would make one question her ethics.

It would appear that she is slandering a company due to frustration of something that she may have instigated. Sour grapes? Was she not able to entice more clients of Team Double Click to hire her outright? A virtual assistant's ethics are critical. Again, I find "Mary's" comments and ethics questionable.

Nothing is ever 100%

AUTHOR: Mary - (U.S.A.)

Again, let me reiterate that I never said TDC was a rip off or a bad company. What they have accomplished is amazing and the service they provide is much needed, along with giving people an opportunity to work from home.

All employers, whether we are employees or independent contractors, will have a few disgruntled folks. It is the nature of being in business.

I stated my "disgruntledness" and tried to explain why, in my case.

I am not a bad employee/contractor and my work ethic is sound. I do great work, as is evident by having clients of my own.

There are situtations, however, in which things happen. This was one such situation.

Surprised at Bad Report

AUTHOR: L. - (U.S.A.)

I'm really quite surprised at the bad report given to Team Double Click by "Mary". Obviously I don't know her situation, but it seems to be a bit of an over reaction to quit a job over a single client email or even a single client.

I've been with Team Double Click for over three years and have been assigned to a variety of clients in that time. I've never had a problem with them or with their clients. As for the pay: when we are offered an assignment with a Team Double Click Client we are told what the pay will be and have the option of accepting or refusing the assignment. If Mary didn't feel that the pay was adequate she should have turned down the assignment. Team Double Click works as any staffing agency does. They locate the clients and make sure the contractors get paid in a timely manner. There is considerable effort and expense involved in this process. They should be compensated for this service. I wouldn't want to go back to scrounging for clients on my own and hoping that they pay me. I like the security of having them handle that. They have always been more than fair with me. I've had many offers to take on my own clients but have turned them all down. I wish Team Double Click all the best and plan to continue working with them.

Proud to be a part of Team Double Click

AUTHOR: Revann - (U.S.A.)

I had been looking for work I could do from home because I have medical problems which prevent me from being able to work outside the home. I had been out of work for three years due to having back surgery. Then I found Team Double Click and it changed my life.

I now have my own little business, with the flexibility to choose my own hours and workload. Team Double Click has very high standards, and the work I do requires the same high quality (if not a little more) as I was required to give the 16 years I worked as an Administrative Assistant outside the home. I consider it a privilege to have been chosen to work as a contractor for this company.

The person who complained stated that to Team Double-Click, and I quote, As a virtual assistant, loyalty, good work and praise from clients means nothing. I have to disagree. I work with only one clientmy choice..because the client I have at this time is all I need. I have received several compliments from Team Double Click regarding the praise they have received for my work. They do listen very closely to what their clients say regarding their contractors and take every comment, good or bad, very seriously.

I would highly recommend Team Double-Click for anyone who is interested in working from home. Be warned, its takes a good work ethic. I am saying that only from my own personal experience with the company. I know absolutely nothing about Mary from Alabama, and it is not my place to be concerned about thatexcept that I simply cannot stand by and not dispute her complaint. I am now earning a living, and no longer will I have to dread being put on permanent disability due to not being able to work in the outside world again. Thank You Team Double Click!

Wait before you judge me

AUTHOR: Mary - (U.S.A.)

Team Double Click is not a rip off and I never claimed that they were. In my personal situation, they were unfair. I wasn't given a reason for the termination, I was just told "it wasn't working out". This was odd because I was featured in their newsletter for outstanding service at the same time. What sense did that make?

My client at the time was, according to the owner, very difficult. The owner was right. I was cussed out and blamed for something another employee of hers had done. I advised that the relationship be terminated and when I did, I was "fired" without being given a chance to explain or anything. That, to me, was unfair.

I don't know about anyone else, but being cussed out isn't something I should put up with.

In the end, after being terminated, the client apologized, LEFT team double click and hired me outright, as well as another client I had through TDC. They were outraged at the charges but mainly, I was doing a good job and they wanted to keep me. The only way to do that was to terminate their relationship with TDC and hire me outright. So,they did.

To this day, I have clients. By word of mouth, I have more clients and at this time, have more than I can handle and am turning people down. My work is excellent and I am confident in knowing that.

I am grateful for the experience with TDC but they did do me wrong.

Another opinion

AUTHOR: Catherine - (U.S.A.)

I have been an independent contractor working with Team Double-Click and two of its clients for almost a year now.

I have been held accountable by this company to perform the duties asked of me, to be available when I have said I will be available, and to operate with the integrity I promised them when contracting for work. I have held up my end of the bargain.

In return, Team Double-Click has followed through on every single promise they made to me. I have never witnessed them backing out of a commitment with me or with a client. I know them to be honest and genuine. It's been my experience that they try their absolute hardest to provide excellent client service while respecting the needs of the contractors they place with those clients.

Team Double-Click

AUTHOR: Lisa - (U.S.A.)

I have worked for Team Double-Click, Inc. for 11 months and am very satisfied with the company. Not only do I have five clients that have been assigned to me, but I am also the Training Coordinator for Team Double-Click. I work hard for them and do my job and they treat me with nothing but respect and professionalism.

This is just a case of a disgruntled contractor. Nobody likes to get fired from a job, Mary is just blowing off steam and burning bridges, I might add. I know that Team Double-Click does not terminate their virtual assistants for no good reason. I know first hand that Mary was given more than one chance to prove herself to the company and clients, but it just didn't work out.

Team Double-Click prides themselves on their VAs and to assign a less than ideal one to a client would be against their policy.

Former Contractor's Comment Inexcusable

AUTHOR: Kathy - (U.S.A.)

Team Double Click offers a service on two fronts. To the client, Team Double Click offers affordable options to hiring full time or part time employees - namely independent contractors who are experts in their fields, with an excellent work ethic. To the Independent Contractor, Team Double Click offers a variety of assignments within their area of expertise that the contractor might not have otherwise found.

Team Double Click holds their contractors to a higher standard than the average virtual assistant. The clients expect this level of excellence, and are willing to pay the premium. When a contractor does not meet the client's expectations, the contractor, in my experience, is counseled, and if the situation is not resolved, the client is reassigned. If the contractor fails to meet the minimum standards of excellence expected by Team Double Click, their contract is terminated.

As an Independent Contractor, I have worked with Team Double Click for a little more than 6 months. My responsibilities have grown with my levels of expertise with each of the clients I now handle for Team Double Click. This opportunity has enabled me to leave a full time job in a distant city to be able to work from the comfort of my home. My abilities and work ethic are appreciated and rewarded. My skills are valued. To be part of this Team is a rewarding experience, and an honor.

Not everyone is cut out for the day to day rigors of working for difficult clients. I do not know the particulars of "Mary's" situation, but I do know some particulars of the "roommate's" situation. It is not my place to comment on either. My own personal experience has seen many people come and go through the Team Double Click virtual doors. Only a few are chosen, and fewer still stay with the program.

To say that Team Double Click is unfair or unethical is wrong. They hold themselves and their contractors to the highest possible standards. There is nothing unfair or unethical about that. To see unfair and unethical, I suggest that Mary look in the mirror.

Team Double Click is in NO way a Rip-Off

AUTHOR: Lynsey - (U.S.A.)

I am currently a contractor for Team Double Click and I need to add some comments to this report.

I have been with Team Double Click for 9 months and they have been nothing but fantastic! They have done everything that they promised they would, inlcuding finding me work. I have tried for a very long time to be a work from home mom. They gave me a chance when no one else would.

I work for 2 wonderful clients, which I believe they matched with me perfectly. They are always there when you need them to help with questions or problems. They pay very fair and ON TIME every week.

I could't ask for anything better, even if I worked outside the house. They are always willing to give you more work and more hours if and when you are ready. They check in with you on a regular basis to make sure everything is good and your happy with the work. How many employers do that? I have suggested to many of my friends that are interested in working from home to contact them.

I believe this is a great company to work for. If I could do it all over again, I would surely work with Team Double Click. I'm sorry someone had a bad experience. This line of work is not cut out for everyone.

Fairly Treated

AUTHOR: Hollis - (U.S.A.)

I have been a Team Contractor for over a year now and plan to remain for many years to come. I understand that my ability to work with their clients as an independent contractor depends on my performance and professionalism with their clients.

If there is an issue with a contractor and a client it should always be brought to the attention to the Company and not handled directly between the client and yourself. That allows TDC to solve the issue and be able to keep their client because it is their client. Any other steps no matter how much a person may feel they have the right to speak their mind is improper and stated in our contract which we signed when we were hired.

A notice to terminate a client must be given proper notice so that another VA can be assigned to take care of your duties and the client is not left in the lurch. As in all companies as well sub contractual or corporate fees are charged and paid differently which each client and VA paid or charged depending on requirements and educational levels. HB

The impeccable integrity of Team Double Click

AUTHOR: Sandra - (U.S.A.)

I did a lot of research before I started working at home and yes, there are a lot of scams out there. Is Team Double-Click one of them? ABSOLUTELY NOT!

Team Double-Click's standards are so high and their credentials so impeccable that my only response to Ms. Bessemer (and her roomate) is that perhaps she look inside herself to discern why her work does not meet these standards.

If something happened that was caused by something "unbeknownst" to her, wouldn't it be prudent (and professional) to gather information rather than simply reacting?

Unlike the majority of other services available, Team Double-Click requires you PROVE your competency and your ethics. If you don't fit, the relationship will be terminated. It is in the best interests of those of us who choose work with Team Double-Click, both as clients and as contractors.
