I worked for team winmark for several months and have never worked for any company as corrupt and dishonest as team winmark!!! Not only do they lie about the amount of income sales reps can make, but they also have many phony "fees" and "expenses" that they take from the sales rep's pay. Since the sales reps are categorized as "independent contractors", there should NOT be ANY fees taken out of their pay, because this is in violation of that category!
They treat the sales reps as employees or slaves, without ANY of the benefits an employee should have, such as regular pay, insurance, etc. They make demands of the sales reps, such as requiring them to be at pre-shift and post-shift meetings, as well as weekly meetings in the office, that the sales reps don't get paid for and are a total waste of time!
Some of the "fees" or "expenses" team winmark takes out of each of the sales rep's pay are:
10 percent of the total commission per week for "chargebacks", which they say they will pay the sales rep after four months, but never do! I have spoken with numerous sales reps that have never received any money taken by team winmark for "chargebacks", even though most of their customers didn't cancel their accounts with Comcast.
$25 per week charge for a receptionist, team winmark employee, who does very little for the sales reps. Since when does a company have any right to charge the sales reps a fee for the company's own employees???
$25 per week for a phony "background check", up to a total of $500. I have asked for a copy of this so-called background check, but they have NEVER given me a copy! By law, people are entitled to a copy of any background checks that are done on them, especially if they are paying for it!!!
$48 for use of the "uniform", which amounts to only a cap, a vest and a shirt, which are typically worn out! This "fee" more than covers the cost of these items NEW, so why are sales reps given worn-out "unforms"??? Just another example of a scam type company!
$8.50 per week for a "turf pack", which amounts to a vague map of a neighborhood and an outdated list of some of the people in that neighborhood. I was told by two other sales reps that team winmark gets this information from Comcast for free. Why then do they charge the sales reps for this??? Then to top it off, they want the "turf packs" back, without refunding the money! I've noticed that the managers at team winmark keep the best or more potentially lucrative "turf packs" for themselves, while giving the bad ones to new sales reps or those they don't like.
In addition to these phony "fees" or "expenses", the managers at team winmark are typically crude, obnoxious, foul-mouthed, arrogant and demeaning toward the sales reps. If a sales rep does poorly on any given day or evening, they are criticized and demeaned by the managers, instead of being encouraged. Given the fact that sales reps are treated so poorly, why would ANYONE want to work with team winmark??? My advice to you is to RUN from them and look for a legitimate JOB!!!
