They charged my CC on 9/2, a day they say they are closed. My order was in the amount of $999.60.
I received an email with my order number and the status said: Processed.
On 9/5/12 I received and email that said my order was complete, with this added information:
Customers who ordered a SHIPPED product:Your FedEx tracking information will be sent to the email address on file within 24-48 hours of this email. All orders are sent via FedEx Overnight or FedEx 2nd Day Air.
On 9/10/12 I wrote them an email, it said:
I have not received a tracking number or any indication that my order was sent to me. If I don't receive my tracking number within the next 2 days, I'm calling the credit card company and reversing the charge. Your delay is upsetting, and smells of a scam. I hope it is not.
On 9/10/12 I got a reply citing that they were closed on Labor Day, 9/4/12 and that my order SHOULD have gone out sometime between 9/4/12 & 9/7/12. Amanda assured me I would get a tracking number in the next business day.
I then got an email on 9/10 (which is AFTER, not before or during, AFTER the DNC) citing:
TechValueDirect.com is located in Charlotte, North Carolina. As you may know, the Democratic National Convention (DNC 2012) was hosted by Charlotte, North Caroina, during August 31 - September 7, 2012. During this period, FEDEX pick-ups and drop offs were delayed and limited.
On 9/11/12 I received a tracking number with the caveat that it would take up to 12 hours to update in the Fed Ex system. I checked and checked my tracking number and when it finally updated, it said the product would not be PICKED UP from the seller until the 13th, to arrive on the 14th.
I arrived home on 9/14/12 to find my $1000 purchase lying on my doorstep. That was Fed Ex's fault, but unnerving all the same. I was puzzled that my purchase had come in a Fed Ex Express envelope, not a box like it should have been.
On 9/15/12 I opened the envelope and found a bubble mailer inside. When I opened that I pulled out a cardboard DVD case, that had the appropriate graphics on it, but was not factory sealed, but it was all smashed up. I pulled the DVD out, which seemed to be fine, and the accompanying paperwork.
There was the traditional Software Licensing Agreement and another piece of paper with instructions on installing the software and how to appropriately register the product. What's missing? The SERIAL NUMBER.
I emailed them immediately. Then I went online (what I should have done in the first place) and looked for reviews. I was disappointed to find RipOff reports and other sites where their poor customer service and shady dealings were all spelled out.
I immediately send them another email, cite what I have found and demand that they send me a factory sealed Adobe CS6 Web Design Premium delivered to me before 10:30 am on 9/18/12.
It is Monday, Sept. 17th and at 1:52 pm I get an email from Fed Ex with a label to return the bogus software they sent me. At 4:17 I finally get a reply from Mark (the Owner? only guessing).
He babbles on about the Democratic National Convention delays with links to prove he is telling the truth, he gives me my tracking number for what better be the factory sealed Adobe CS6 Web Design Premium to be delivered before 10:30 am.
Last, but not least, we are a small business started several years ago in Charlotte, North Carolina. We are normal people with a normal business and I am a little disappointed that my employees have been spoken to the way they have been spoken to from your emails.
Again, I understand the disappointment and I understand the frustration. I even understand this inconvenience this has caused you. Again, I do apologize.
He never mentions my $1000 freak out and that I had every right to demand better service. I told them over the course of several emails that I thought they were a scam and a bunch of liars. Not sorry I hurt their feelings, you don't give someone an endless line of bull when they are spending $1000.
So far, I have filed this report, I've contacted Adobe about their little schemes and I also put this up on ClarkHoward.com. I will continue to tell my story because those folks, as we say here in the South, are up to no good.
