Deciding to do our entire home with vinyl easy care flooring we had decided on Prego, a brand that we had used in a prior home & we knew that #1: It was very easy care/upkeep & #2: It resisted scratching. Both of these were very important to us as we always have a house full of dogs (with scratching toenails) and Pergo is very resistant to scratch's. My wife has multiple sclerosis and is on disability. This was thoroughly explained to several HD personnel. We were told that their own exclusive brand had these characteristics...and different from Pergo, it was waterprrof & could be used in the kitchen.

My wife thought that this would give a nice "flow" so we decided on HP's Allure. We also researced the internet and could find no information on these two requisites;the only statement made by HP was "Easiest Floor Ever". We bought it. After it was installed and the furniture replaced, we were given a pamphlet that came in each carton. The statement made in this was that HP's product, "Simple Step" was to be applied (after mopping entire floor with vinegar/water) before the furniture was replaced, wait 30 minutes and again apply another coat and wait two hours and then replace furniture.

It was then recommend that his be repeated every six months. It scratched; but even worse, my wife did this procedure in the kitchen and after the application it scratched even worse. We complained. We were offered a case of "Simple Step" and a $200 gift certificate. Not only was I the owner of retail syores for many years, we have a friend who specializes in "consumer product law. He has brought suit agains HP for $25,000.00 with includes the cost of the floor, the removal of the floor, his fees and punitive damages. He fells that we have very good case. The filing was just done, so we have no results. Will revisit after the case is heard.
