We have been members of Outdoor World since 1998 and unfortunately the company has sold and been renamed a few times. When we signed up we had over 300 camp sites to choose from at the park lake and Shore located near Cape May, which is our home park, now it contains 63 camp sites...all the rest are permanet or seasonal sites. I think it is terrible that they won't honor freezing of the dues, which was a selling factor for us, that once you reached a senior age dues would be frozen and also we used to be able to camp 14 days ..leave camp for 7 days and then come back for 14 more all summer long, not now...we are called transits because we do not have a permanet or seasonal site. I didn't spend thousands to own a site. We wanted to be able to enjoy camping with our family not own a campsite. What we were sold and are given now are 2 different things. I wish ALL Outdoor World members would get together and bring a civil suit against this company. It is not fair when we paid the cost back in the day and pay high cost maintenence fees every year and then we can't get a site where we originally signed up and we are told we can only stay there twice a season...this is breech of contract. This is not fair how we are being treated. We are about to cancel our membership entirely and this is what they are hoping we do.

Equity Life Styles, Encore, RPI and Thousand Trails breech of contract

AUTHOR: Brian - (United States)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 02, 2018

I agree wih the original author of this report.  We purchased membership in both Thousand Trails and Resort Parks International almost twenty years ago.  Since then we have seen a chronic erosion of our benefit by the reduction of campgrounds avaiilable under the original terms of the contract. Although ELS may have the legal right to purchase other properties and businesses what protection do I and other members, who paid significant amounts of money, from further erosion of our contract agreement?  i'd like to know if anyone has explored legal representation with regard to this issue.  There is an intentional design to eliminate all orignial contracts because the new parent company isn't making as much money from them.  They keep increasing our maintenance fees, unless they've been frozen, and reducing the availability of campgrounds which were identified under the origiinal contract.  This is a de facto breech of contract and we as members should be oompensated for the damage to our membership. I believe the value of my membershilp has been greatly reduced because of changes ELS and Encore have made. If others are interested in poolilng our resources perhaps we may have a case against this corporate predator.
