I purchased a Gift Certificate for $29.95 that Thrifty Travel was sponsoring for a 8 Day / 7 Night stay in Honolulu of Waikiki at the outrigger Hotel & Resort. Includes round trip airfare for two for $449.00 per person surcharge for hotel & airfare with a 5 year expiration. The certificate stated to mail $14.95 to Thrifty Travel for shipping & Handling. Thrifty Travel now will not honor the certificate after I sent them THE $14.95. THE CERTIFICATE HAS THRIFTY TRAVEL NAME AND ADDRESS ON IT! BUT...
Tim Leahy emails me the following: That was offered by Bear Country Vacations. Please take any more of your questions to them.
We have offered to do all that we can do for you. We have given this matter all the time we can and are now finished with any further dialogue in this regard.
Good bye,

Dear Travel Customer, Janice
OK, we'll try explaining this to you once again. This time please listen: Bear Country is history which was beyond our control. We are trying to help you to get a Hawaii vacation for the lowest possible price and the best way we know how to accomplish that is to make you a travel agent. If you fail to accept that fact, there is little else we can do to assist you with a Hawaii vacation. Please simply accept our Bonus vacations and forget Hawaii unless you agree to work with us in this regard.

YOU HAVE TO BECOME A TRAVEL AGENT BEFORE THEY CLAIM TO HELP YOU. JUST ANOTHER WAY TO GET MORE MONEY OUT OF YOU. THRIFTY TRAVEL CLAIMS THEY WANT TO HELP YOU BUT YOU WILL HAVE TO SIGN UP TO BE A TRAVEL AGENT. BEFORE YOU BECOME A TRAVEL AGENT YOU HAVE TO MAKE A LARGE DOWN PAYMENT AND THEN MAKE MONTHLY PAYMENTS. Thrifty Travel Club Offers Defunct Bear Country Customers Full Travel Credit
AUTHOR: Tim Leahy - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Monday, January 26, 2009
When travel wholesaler, Bear Country Vacations, went out of business in December 2005, as an act of Good Will, Thrifty Travel offered comparable vacation alternatives to all customers who suffered loss from Bear Country, though we had no legal obligation to do so. To date we have been successful in satisfying 99.9% of these customers with the exception of Janice Smith of Jacksonville, Florida, who apparently refuses to be satisfied whatever the offer.
But that is her choice, because we have done everything possible for her, including giving her thousands of dollars worth of comparable vacations. Finally, in total frustration we had to give up on her and must now move on from this lost soul. That is unfortunate, but there is nothing more we can reasonably do.
She must now look to the source of her complaint, Bear Country Vacations and not blame everyone else in the universe with her trivia. I say trivia, because she spent only $29.95 & $14.95, a total of $44.90 & we have already sent her more than $2000 worth of vacation vouchers in an all out effort to appease her.
This person has no reasonable or legal basis for a complaint with Thrifty Travel. Janice from Jacksonville, Florida is that once in a lifetime customer who complains no matter what is done for her and is every retailers nightmare. God Bless her.
