I attended the campus on Lynnhaven Parkway from September 1997 to July 1998....
to become a computer technician. the equipment that was at the campus was old
even for 97/98, the teachers really didn't do much except read from the books
and a couple of them even let us use the text books while taking tests... one
part of the course was soldering, LOL even back in 97 computers were plug-n-play
u just replace the computer component that is bad, so i don't even know why
they taught it.... and all throughout the course i maintained a 4.0 grade was on
deans list and president list so i thought i was doing very well....
When it came time for applying for jobs and submitting resume's and having job
interviews, everyone of them in their own way told me they didn't hire students
from tidewater tech and the reason why was because the school did not tech
enough to the students for even entry level positions so i thought if i had the
CET certification that would improve my chances so i bought the CET test study
books.... and studied them for 3 months after I so called graduated... LOL and
then found out when the next test would be given and signed up & paid my
40 dollars..... 1st test i got was a 56%.... studied books for another 4 months
did the free retake and got only a 58% studied the books for another 4 months
and got only a 60%... had to get an 85% or better....
So when it came time to pay the loan... i told direct loans that i went there to become a CET...
and that none would hire me cause the school did not teach me enough and if they
wanted the $10,000 to go get the money from tidewater tech casue they wernt
getting it from me
SO WHOEVER READS THIS.... DO NOT GOT TO TIDEWATER TECH/CENTURA COLLAGE FOR ANY OF THEIR COURSES they will just take ur money and run and you'll be left with the bill with no real means of repaying it
