Recently I purchased 2 new tires at Tire Kingdom on East Lake Road in Tarpon Springs, Florida.
I had them fit the 2 rear tires for me.
The sales guy was trying to tell me I needed an alignment also... there was no evidence that it needed one to me as the steering was perfect and the tires were wearing evenly.
I declined and told the sales guy that I would get an alignment when I replaced the front tires.
So, now the car goes in to get the 2 rear tires fitted only despite the hard sales pitch for expensive alignment.
I get the car back and find that my steering is now very sloppy and pulling badly to the left. I also lost 2 hub caps in the following week after the tires were fitted.
Now tell me how does fitting rear tires affect the steering gear?. It should not. I believe that the mechanic messed with my steering gear while the car was in the bay and they were covering themselves by saying that they tried to tell me it needed an alignment. My car was perfect except for neediing a couple of tires on the back before bringing into Tire Kingdom and I left with a dangerously sloppy steering and lost 2 hub caps that cost $70 each to replace.
I smell a huge rat in this store and would recommend that you don't go near it!
