I started going to Title Boxing Club in Scottsdale when it first opened because I was dating the general manager and I wanted to support what he was doing. Yes, the workout is ok. But believe me when I say, you can do Insanity at home for the one time fee to buy it, and get BETTER results in 2 months than you do for the $65/month in a year at TITLE.

In my first month at Title, I brought in 5 more first timers and I signed up 2 of my closest friends for a year on my credit card for a couple reasons:

1. I wanted to bring more members to support the new club. 

2. It would be fun for us 3 to work out together!

I told my 2 friends I would pay for their first 3 months, and if they continued to go I would continue to pay for them.

For a lengthy list of reasons, I stopped dating the General Manager a few months into it. I'm not one to be petty, and even though he was above and beyond a dick about it, I did sign a year contract so I figured I would keep going (or at least keep paying for it through the duration of my agreement). [continued below]....

HOWEVER,

One of my two friends decided she did not want to go anymore. I told her I would not pay for her membership after 3 months (as stated earlier) if she discontinued her exercise. So I had my assistant call Title to find out about the cancellation policy. Unfortunately, my assistants call was answered by the General Manager (the jerk that is now my ex) and he was very rude to her when she asked; "I know things didn't go well with you and ________, but she only wants to cancel one of the 3, isn't there something you can do?"

HIS EXACT WORDS: "Well I'm the Manager... so I can do whatever I want."

What an arrogant SOB!

Anyways, he also said things like "I'm not going to talk to you about this. _______ can come in and deal with it."

SO....

I took time out of my day to go discuss the cancelation. He agreed to cancel it with these words:

"You know what? I don't really want to deal with it, so let's just make it easy and cancel THEM" (THEM would refer to all 3 accounts)

I said OK and walked out. Although, I noticed on my next statement that he only cancelled 1 membership. That's fine, because that really was my only request.

So I let it go for the sake of compromise. He did cancel the 1 I asked him to cancel, but since he was so rude to my assistant and I was a little hurt by how blatantly cold and disrespectful he was to me, I never went back to Title.

MONTHS later, 4 months to be exact, I reached out to him and asked if we could burry the hatchet, cancel my memberships, and move on. He said: "Sure no problem. It may be after your next billing period, but I will cancel them."

So I accepted these terms, and was billed again..... and then again. So I reached out to him AGAIN, and said: "I am just confirming that my 2 Title memberships will be cancelled now, I was just billed again."

Here's the kicker...... The epitome of bad customer service....

"...I told you I would cancel them, and I will. But the fact that you haven't been going has no bearing on the fact that you signed a contract for 1 year. I already ALLOWED (arrogant SOB) you to cancel one of your 3 memberships...." 


So I was told 3 times, but the General Manager of this facility, that my memberships would be cancelled. And here I am, 6 months to the date, still being billed and treated with terrible customer service.

If I were Title, this isn't the guy I would want running my facility. And it's sad that it's come to this. He doesn't answer to anybody, so he treats his customers like shit after they sign a contract because he doesn't have to let them out of it, and because there is no one above him to complain to.

Hello,

We seek to give our members & guests the best possible experience in our Club.  It is unfortunate your experience has not been up to the standards we ask our staff to uphold.  For that, I am sorry.  Know that we have made changes to create the best possible atmosphere & customer experience.

I would love to speak with you personally to resolve this amicably.  I did request that you call the Club to do so, but have not yet heard from you.  As there is no name from you noted on this site, there is no way to resolve the issue.  How can I cancel a membership without knowing who it is that's asking for such relief?  Guessing which member you are from those on our member list is like finding a needle in a haystack.  

So, I did try to resolve this matter in the best & quickest way possible, however, I am talking to a computer screen here.  How do you propose I resolve this issue without knowing your name, phone number, membership plan?  It is impossible.

Really? You're going to deny the complaint rather than step up and try to resolve the issue? This is what's wrong with businesses today. Customer service is thrown by the wayside, and management will do or say anything to get your money.

Let's inspect the rebuttal:

I love this response when a customer complains online. First of all, if my experience had been enjoyable and I felt as though I was treated fairly, why would I complain?? Secondly, if TITLE was fair and practiced exceptional customer service, why would I resort to complain online? I had to file a damn Ripoff Report just to get a response!

This is great. Please see the attached screen shot of my personal billing statement from August 19, 2013. Perhaps not 6 full months... but this will be the 6th month I am billed for a membership at TITLE Boxing Club despite my requests to cancel in October AND December.

"Second, we have a new General Manager, so this conversation could not have taken place with the same person as they claim." 

Ok this one I'd love to tear up. To your point-- I'm happy to hear the place is under new management, but I happen to know that didn't happen until the end of December. So when I spoke with the old manager at the beginning of last month, he was still the manager. And if now, it's not my fault your old manager is still parading around acting like he's in charge. Maybe you should talk to him.

Secondly, whether it's new management or old, YOU are ultimately responsible for how your customers are treated. And if I were in your position, I'd take more stock in satisfying customer complaints than trying to sweep them under the carpet.

Unfortunately inaccurate & false claims may be made on the internet by anonymous posters.  This report is factually incorrect in many aspects.  First off, we have not even been open for 6 months.  Second, we have a new General Manager, so this conversation could not have taken place with the same person as they claim.  Much of the rest of the story is bogus as well.
