TM Fano Scammed by Contractor at Idyllic Lakeside Community North Royalton Ohio

On 11-11-15 we contracted this company to replace our boat dock, install a retaining wall, grade land and install sand beach for our first grandchild.

By 12-2-15 we had paid $10,500 for work to be done - we had confidence that this was a reputable company due to the high volume of signage displayed in neighboring properties - we later found these had been placed illegally since the homeowners were actually wintering out-of-state and had not actually had work done!

In February, 2016 a Permit was obtained - our signatures apparently appear on the document but we have never seen it! Shortly thereafter our existing dock was excavated and the shore dirt was dumped on the lot next door (this lot does not belong to us).

Completion of project was scheduled for May 19, 2016 - contractor had a LOT of our money from contract start to projected finish.  However, May 19 came and went and no new dock presented itself!  Finally, on June 27, 2016 we received a letter stating that the $4,000 due on completion must be sent to a PO Box in the form of a Cashiers Check by July 29 to get our work done by August 11, 2016.  We had already been told that the contractor was leaving at the end of July to his new residence in North Royalton - his former residence and business address had been sold in April/May of 2016.

Not sure if they ever intended to give us a dock - certainly not coughing up any nore money.  Have contacted local law enforcement, BBB, FTC, Ohio Atty General, local media and on-line consumer advocacy sites.

Imagine it will start all over again at the new locale - watch out folks.
