I signed up for Torguard's service and bought three accounts, all of which were paid for a year in advance. My account was shut down a few weeks later, because I supposedly had an unpaid bill. I contacted their support department and was told that I'd need to provide identification (a picture of my passport or driver's license) in order for my account to be unlocked. I then told them that I paid for the services up front, a year in advance, was not going to provide them with a photo of any identification, and if they could not unlock my account then they'd need to just give me a refund. They told me they could not give me a refund.

Here was their reply:

> Hi, we are not saying you never made payment, that’s not the problem here the problem is it pears your linked to another TG account yet paying for additional services that you already had, is why we are questioning.

Not sure exactly what they're trying to say here. I'm not linked to any other account, and I purchased the additional services so that I could have more concurrent connections. Never have I experienced someone disabling my account for purchasing more of their service, then completely refusing to offer a refund after locking me out. Their customer service is absolutely terrible to deal with, and I highly recommend not going with this company.

I have since switched to NordVPN, and even purchased additional services, and what do you know? They didn't lock me out of my account! Avoid TorGuard at all cost, they are a scam.

Even after providing identifcation, they still refused to activate the account. Absolutely avoid this company.

Nice attempt at lying!

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Sunday, October 30, 2016

Hilarious, now they've resorted to lying. The Paypal account has my wife's name on it, and I provided identification for both my wife, and myself. The name on the Paypal account matches my wife's name, and also has my name on it. Here's what they said after I sent photos of both our IDs:

> We are not doing this to rip you off or to be an a* about things, in all honesty you are the one being an a* about things - we are doing it to prevent fraud and protect ourselves, if you want your money back simply contact Paypal, well your wife will have to as theres a good chance the account can be limited while they deal with this case once we submit a report to them to deal with the transaction, the thing ithe account you paid from is not yours, whether that was allowed by your wife (if it is your wifes account) we don;t know that, but Paypal will!

Now they've sent an email saying,

> Hey
> We are not trying to get your Paypal closed we at times just verify the transaction with Paypal before we activate the account.
> Look, we had a high amount of fraud recently and so we genuinely thought this was the same group we had to deal with for the last 2 months.
> I do apologies for coming across as aggressive if i did due to that, we can enable your account with a couple of free months for the hassles if you would like!
> Cheers

Not my problem if you're experiencing a high amount of fraud. I paid for a service upfront, for a year, and you refused to allow me access to the service even after I sent a photo of my ID, and my wife's ID (And honestly, most people who use a VPN don't want to have to send a photo of their ID to the company just to use it). Also, tell me, why would I go back to your company after I realize you treat your customers like s**t? I make purchases online daily, and never have I had an issues like I've had with TorGuard. In fact, this is the first time I've ever felt compelled to write a review on a company.

Fraud Review

AUTHOR: TorGuard - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, October 30, 2016

We cannot control what PayPal transactions get flagged for further review. Using PayPal accounts that are not yours from a location far away from the account holder's billing address can sometimes trigger fraud reviews.

When we ask you to verify billing info mismatch and you return with a steady stream of vulgar language and threats, this does not help your case.

Thanks,

TorGuard

Credit Card FRAUD / Chargeback

AUTHOR: TorGuard - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, October 30, 2016

Hello,

Official TorGuard representative here.

This user purchased multiple accounts from TorGuard that were flagged for FRAUD by our merchant provider.

This user was given an opportunity to prove the billing was not fraudulent. The ID provided did not match any of the various billing names that were used, thus the accounts were terminated and all charges refunded.

We don’t allow the fraudulent use of credit cards to purchase TorGuard service. If a payment charges back due to fraud, the account will be automatically terminated.

Thanks,

TorGuard
